Default How Many Points for TFC in 2024?

Here is the link to our guesses from last year's debacle: http://forums.redpatchboys.ca/showth...or-TFC-in-2023

I honestly wish I could say that I have optimism going into this coming season, but I don't. TFC pretty much has the same personnel as last year with all the same problems: weak midfield and defense, no proven striker, no roster room to maneuver, and MANNING IS STILL HERE. Abandon hope all ye who enter here. The only difference is that Herdman is now coach, but that didn't make a whiff of difference last game of last season. Most of the East has been upgrading while TFC has been stuck in the garage tinkering with what they have. I have no faith that Manning will be able to get us anyone better than what we have now due to MLSE board shenanigans. I expect this year is a write off, but will be marginally better than last year. I mean, it can't get worse, right?

    ...Right??

We won't finish last, but we'll be talking about the MLS SuperDraft again in October.

Keep telling myself, ‘double down on the bet until’, ‘must die with the lie’ or ‘everything’s gonna be alright’. Thinking, after being mired in the muck long enough, TFC over-performs to ‘On The Playoff Bubble’.

I have a weird positive feeling that we’re gonna start out like vanneys time here in 2015 after 3 different managers in winter/mariner/nelson

We’re gonna be shallow on player depth, but we’re gonna play a pretty stable gameplan that limits dumb errors, and prob gonna see a lot of ties in the first couple months. But they will be ties where you can see progression happening as they take the lessons back to the whiteboard and iron things out…I hope

dunno why but I can see us emulating that initial first half of 2015 season. Lol def won’t snowball momentum tho into a semi finals but I just meant the initial stability Greg provided in results with the 3 at the back and limiting dumb opposition transitions through good control of ball and positioning.

I dunno points, I say we just miss out on playoffs within the last few games or we squeak in and lose in first game, but lots of positives with a more flexible roster to build on for 2025… Ye I’m that optimistic about how much good coaching vibes and a good process can be a core driver in squeekin out results lol

I just refuse to be optimistic until they get results. Herdman seems like the right kind of guy for our situation, but I'm just not sure the talent is there.

I voted for the unimaginable outcome, on the theory that the unimaginable outcome is what we got multiple times in recent years.

I’ll say about 35-40 points. It’s tough to be as bad as we were last year.

I’m expecting regular bad in 2024, not otherworldly tire-fire bad.

Should be enough to send Bill packing.

Bill is the type of animal that can survive a nuclear holocaust. TFC marginally improves to second last and the Argos win the Grey Cup resulting in MLSE extending his contract.

I took the playoff bubble mainly because this is MLS and what makes the most sense has a habit of flying out the window

I haven't seen enough to think we are getting out of the cellar but I hope I am wrong.

I dunno, there have been some really positive signs in preseason. I don't know if we'll make the playoffs but I think we might get out of the cellar.

Unfortunately I think this is the most we can hope for.

If I were able to watch a preseason game I may have a better handle on how to feel but alas...

We were in playoff range until basically May last season / early June before it flew off the rails.

I feel they really need to get some points and confidence earlier rather then later though.

I was just speaking of player movement compared to last year as my foundation for lack of optimism. I have a personal rule of thumb for completely ignoring preseason results due to all the variables with getting match fitness, lineup and formation tweaking by both teams, etc.

I don't do it for reasons of realism; I just figure with this club, clinging to whatever hope exists is the only option sometimes.

Hmmm, I should probably have added a 'change your vote' to this poll. With Ritchie rejoining, I think that brings us back to at least a point per game so assume I've changed my pick to "Lower Table Team".
