We’ll see. There are certainly different ways of leading a club. If his play isn’t there it’s going to be tough. Otherwise, I think it could be good for him. Gets him out if his own head a bit.

Well, at least Oso gives a damn about TFC.

He might just rise to the occasion.

Yes, I think this might be the overriding consideration.

unfortunately, that's the modern game for you. We give players credit because they give a damn, that should be a given, but as we know it's not.

Question based on something jloome just wrote in the roster thread about our lack of PR and addressing this transition year.

For a person who doesn't follow the other MLSE teams much

Apart from social media & corporate events....what PR are the Raptors & Leafs doing?

Are they using the everyday "we ask how these guys are handling their latest bout of the sniffles because people want to know" media interest to mould messaging about change?

(I know nothing about the Leafs because I don't care about hockey at all anymore)

In particular, the Raptors implosion this year and the sell off of the last large piece of the championship puzzle must be creating some interesting issues for the PR team as far as "what's the plan again?" Are they attempting to address that or is team PR now all just social media & corporate events?

The leafs and raptors get so much media coverage in Toronto that I guess its easy to hide they don't do much PR either.

Toronto FC's Instagram account is active and giving updates on the Florida training. Outside of that I don't see anything.

    In the bad optics department...

FC Dallas apparently solid Jesus Ferreira to Spartak Moscow for $13M, but the league kiboshed it due to FIFA sanctions.

Does beg the question why the team and player thought that was acceptable.

Yeah, but if Jesus was playing in Russia he would technically be playing in Europe so that would make him a big call up for the USMNT. While playing in Dallas makes him "LOL another MLS guy".

IIUC, sanctions may be convoluted in their legal application concerning Russia and football; between the US and EU as well. It seems FiFA primarily sanctioned Russian participation regarding World Cup and UEFA Club Competitions. Certain transfers, regular persons livelihood, have occurred, appear to be proceeding based on Club Ownership; if a company and/or individual is not on a list. The MLS decision against Dallas seems to be rooted in the realization that the US has its own more comprehensive/blanket sanction agenda. FWIW, there are some recent articles on this situation; here’s one…

    https://d3data.sportico.com/MLSValua...tionsList.html

Toronto is 8th at $725mil in value

Who knows how they come up with these numbers
“Years have gone by and I’ve finally learned to accept myself for who I am: a beggar for good football.

I go about the world, hand outstretched, and in the stadiums I plead: ‘A pretty move, for the love of God.’

And when good football happens, I give thanks for the miracle and I don’t give a damn which team or country performs it.”

LOL, do the Limp Acts have a nepo baby on their roster?

    From yesterday's exhibition line:

    Sunusi Ibrahim (Jesse Saputo, 70')

Yikes. Add this in to Harvey Neville potentially being traded to Portland (as he'll never play again in Miami without his dad) and we're not exactly being subtle about it in MLS, are we?

I wait with bated breath that after Herdman’s remarks about the Bradley’s situation he isn’t sanctimonious and follows suit by bringing Jay to TFCII from Vancouver.

Inter Miami got Puebla and Tigres in the first round. Given that Pachuca is a middle of the road team right now, we got the better of that deal.

In term’s of this Leagues Cup if in the future both leagues decide that it is not working and not having the desired affect economically for both leagues it will be discontinued. In the end the MLS is a business just like any other league in sports is . Moreover, for now while it’s going on it’s just another trophy for each club to compete for . Once the competition starts every team is going to be out to try and win it . I actually found it pretty exciting to watch last year and it was a nice break from the everyday long haul of regular season games .

That was just because it was Messi's big intro in Miami. I fully suspect this year is going to bomb.

Not to mention the scheduling problems it creates with the playoffs ... I still think it's a dumb idea overall.

This is how I feel about CCL. I just resent the authenticity they try and inject with spots for WCC and the exclusion of most of the countries of our region. I legitimize the Trillium cup more than this tourney.

But that said I see loads of people loving all the things I pointed out as negatives so power to them.

Sins bins and blue cards to be trialed.

I guess that will bring in the puck heads in this country.

For some reason, the English FA is all up in arms about dissent during matches and is trying anything to crack down on it. I can see the sin bin working in participation leagues and kids. And it works really well in a sport like rugby where the refs are constantly communicating warnings to the players of what not to do & the rules involved are specific & the refs are respected fully.

Professional soccer? No thanks. Glad the league isn't doing it.

I am ok with the other new rules

    https://onefootball.com/es/noticias/...eason-38727001

The "we get to see extra time" rule is going to be a HUGE change for fans while the 10 second sub rule is going to be something we just accept as normal within 3 seasons.
