Q- Has it been definitively confirmed that TFC's Richie Laryea's loan from NFFC expired on the 30JUN23 or will it expire on the 16JUL23 similar to DCU's Lewis O'Brien's? One more match then as a Red if he is indeed transferring back?

Already expired...I'm guessing thats why he wasn't listed as "away for Gold Cup" on the last "Absences" post on social media.

IIRC, Manning said they were working on a deal with Nottingham and would have an answer in the next 48-72 hours. This was on July 1st.

    Doesn't look good.

It's not going to happen. They need the money for a striker, even if they could convince him to stay.

Looks like we'll have Sean Johnson back for this one.

yep, we also now have franklin, blessing and JMR/ kosi (in a crisis) who can play RB.

investing more in that position while our strikers are the worst in MLS would be incredibly foolish.

Wow... Panama! Queue Van Halen. Good, sometimes Soccer-America can be so insufferable. Glad SJ is rejoining the squad; he is needed.

On this matter I am still the eternal optimist. It's a tightrope, but I think, it depends on certain variables... primarily, JH's/TFC's intentions, how this transfer window shakes out and the club's understanding of expected rules and regs updates to MLS roster and salary restrictions for next season. There may be a way, a bridge and path, for TFC to have their RL cake and eat it too.

I’m optimistic that Richie can get to Europe and play.

For those hoping we are playing one of the lesser teams in the East - Chicago has won 4 of its last 5 and is now in a playoff position.

i.e. their new coach bounce actually occurred (not always a thing when Klopas returns)

Well, that's a stress for this Saturday. Today, it's a good morning. I have some spring in my step from last night's results; with The Fire dominating CFMTL in MLS action and Panama beating the USA in the Gold Cup!

I was going to say, amazing what happens when you fire your coach at the right time as opposed to let the team circle in the drain for 3 months. Almost like you can save your season or make the playoffs.

Last playoff spot is now 10 points off and Chicago has a game in hand on us. I declare 2023 playoff dreams officially dead.

Yeah that was dead at the start of June when we failed to do what was necessary and obvious.

It was the US's "C" team though. Or so USMNT Twitter has said.

It was the B team when they beat Canada. I bet if the US would have lost 2-1 with that handball no call then it would have changed to the D team.

Ibarra training today, expect to make his debut on Saturday, becoming the 262nd player to suit up for the Reds in their 17 seasons of MLS play. SJ is not back with the team today, wonder if he will just hook up with the team in Chicago or return to the lineup next week, hopefully he starts against the Fire, that will be a welcome sight.

Looks like things are improving on the status report ahead of Saturday. Kind of curious if you went back through them and looked at the percentage of the questionable ones that were injury related , how many played vs. did not ?

I expect SJ to start. No reason not to unless he too is getting traded. IIRC, he rode the bench in July for the last three USMNT matches after starting their first Gold Cup match at the end of June. Hopefully Hedges, Insigne and Kerr are starters.

    Maybe?...

Not sure about Kerr but I do know that Insigne, Hedges and Roasted trained with the first team this week.

I wonder if we'll see Blessing at right back. Kobe's doing well but he's not ready to be a starter yet.

    Petretta over Franklin.

Blessing as RB I’d like to see but Dunfield is keen on the very young, clearly. He’s played kids less ready than Franklin. On the other hand, not sure about two new midfielders at once. The case could certainly be made for that. I’m expecting Osorio and Ibarra at least. I wouldn’t mind seeing Coello as the other 8.

Edit: Just saw Dunfield’s press conference… he mentions that it’s important to have more experience in the line up… maybe he means Osorio, Hedges, Johnson but interesting nonetheless. And he mentions ‘chemistry’ between Ibarra, Oso and Insigne… that will be good to see. I think Ibarra is going to make a big difference.

Just noticed, at least according to TorontoFC, seems he did train and travel...

    I'd like to see a 4-2-3-1.

    Johnson
    Kobe-Hedges-Mabika-Petretta
    Blessing-Ibarra
    Kerr-Oso-Insigne
Striker 5 who won't score anyway

Did Blessing get in at least one training session with the team?

Oso Coello Isigne would be intriguing.
