I feel a bit for Terry, why announce if Herdman won’t be here for 3 games. TD really being left to twist in the wind here.

I too was critical of Canada's tactics at the world cup and Herdman particularly, but then I remembered this was Canada's first World Cup in more than two decades. There was a lot of brash behavior and arrogance, but I will let that slide to getting caught up in the moment.
Canada should have smoked Belgium if it wasn't for how nervous the players we're on the big stage.
I think Herdman is a good coach for this iteration of MLS, however my #1 concern is Manning and our GM, and how they intend to support Herdman.
We need a new president and director of football. The academy needs a complete overhaul too.
Manning shouldn't realistically be here beyond this season.
In isolation I'd see this as very middle of the road to slightly underwhelming. Definitely could be worse, and he fully has my support and definitely has potential to do something
But this is just so Bill Manning it hurts. That's what worries me. It is the classic Manning signing
- Does it provide some kind of fan service (Breaking it down - Are they Canadian? From a country with lots of people in Toronto? Or played for us in 2017? If so, Manning is interested)
- Is it a lazy/easy signing? Does it require any kind of work, scouting or any level of effort? If no, they're in
He ticks both boxes - fan service, and low effort. As a bonus, he's also likely cheap, which still worries me as being a direction MLSE is moving in and there's a decent bit of evidence to support that direction. So I'm very cynical as this, to me, is such a sign that Manning continues to learn nothing and just try the same thing over and over again. The man genuinely, by accounts, thought Carl Robinson was a good choice to manager us - that alone should be a fireable offence. We need rid of him, badly
But remove all that and he's definitely someone with some upside. I have my doubts, but also have a limited sample of games I've seen him manage. So hopefully he sees this as a huge opportunity and really turns us around. He definitely fully has my support, it's just his boss who needs to be cut from the club immediately and we'll go nowhere until he is
John Herdman is the safe, head line grabbing choice for TFC. It many ways it's an easy, little effort choice for Manning and company. The board would know who he is and I assume TFC is not breaking the bank for him.
Remember The Man, The Legend, The Goal 5-12-07 and All That #9 Left On The Pitch, Thanks For The Memories !!!
Anybody got odds on how long before Atiba's added to the staff.
Did Herdman not say that TD was ready for a coaching job when BB was fired?
Already a first for Herdman. TFC coaching appt. makes the BBC Football main page

and if the CSA were to appt G Vanney head coach I have little doubt who would get better results

FWIW
people are leaving the CanMNT along with Herdman.
Check out this tweet at https://twitter.com/BenSteiner00/status/1696237308889149580
Was there a video of today's announcement?
Also, what's the reason for him starting on October 1? Transitioning his role on CMNT?

I don't like this move for club or country. Manning, you lazy bastard, your Ls are contagious.
In case anyone was wondering, Simon Eaddy is the CanMNT goalkeeper coach...
Exactly, notice the start date Oct 1st. I actually really like Herdman and this way he doesn’t wear anything from this year. But Transfermarket/horseshoe Manning did his thing again and was gifted an opportunity again. This is as much the CMNT is such a mess than anything. And Manning can hype this to wait for next year. MLSE wake up… Fire Manning!!
Eric Tenllado is a former RCD Espanyol youth academy coach.
TBH it's really hard to judge the quality of assistant coaches from our perspective, especially on the national team where the coach really only has an impact for a couple weeks at a time.
To OG's post - it's gotten to the point where everyone has to go for change sake.
Alex Dogshon has a document with a lot of his work/analysis here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1II8...Cloo1Lo7d/view
You know what I mean…a Euro or South American experienced coach.
Is this really the end of Conway? Never thought I’d see the day.
Now get rid of Manning and let’s start new.
One question on Herdman, why Oct 1? Why not immediately? What is the wait for?
This is about as lazy as it gets, but ... It could work ... if the players buy in.
I feel though that his style is really more suited to a national team. When you're only hearing the sappy 'brotherhood' stuff every few months, maybe you feel motivated by it. When it's every day maybe you start to tune out, and the tactics of course become the most important thing.
I really hope this works but I'm cautiously pessimistic.
This is a stepping stone for Herdman to manage back in England.
Timing of this announcement - I would assume Terry knew before the Columbus game. Makes his comments afterwards make more sense.
As for Herdman - going to be really easy to create a post game drinking game - each time he says "just" or "the guys"
