He's a foolish coach. Gutierrez was important going forward; yes, he was culpable on the ball. But the answer to that is to tear a strip at halftime and get him to press the ball, not "punish" him by taking him off.

Just... man, he's tanked us. We had momentum in this; they were better, and we were making just enough mistakes to deserve to be behind. But we still had a shot. Then he overthought, overadjusted. He's straight up tanked us.

Maybe Bob is intentionally trying to lose as a way to try to prove that the team needs Michael in the lineup.

I suspect it went this way

    Hedges injured

Putting in one of Rosted or O'Neill is unlikely to work.

    So need 3 CB's.

Guiterrez not pressing 3 times was just enough to get him subbed off.

Our problem is without Hedges or Laryea as the second CB, we can't use 2 CB's - that's not good.

More American delusion. "Toronto has been playing better than their position in the table."

    It's almost cult-like, I swear.

It was a silly gamble. He should've taken his chances and trusted his defenders to maybe have a good game, and just subbed the one player.

He doesn't believe formation is important. But shape and comfort in it has a lot to do with tendencies and players knowing where to be.

Agree, anyone who had experience playing competitive can tell you formations absolutely make a difference. Maybe not if you're Man City and all your players are world class. Bob tinkered too much too early.

    If you accept

    a) we are not well coached

    b) the roster is not well set up

    c) we do have a lot of injuries & guys at international

    so you don't expect much........

that was a lot better then I thought it was going to be.

I don't think it happens until the season ends. I am sure Bill and Bob are feeding MLSE the "injuries, international duty, bad luck" narrative.

I thought we were second best in the first half but credit where it's due the last half hour especially we deserved something. That offside call... I'd love to see the proper technology on that. Honestly in the circumstances that's a decent performance and a very good one from insigne. I still think we scrape into the play offs and he alone may carry us to some wins getting us there

So I defer to the experts, where did we go wrong other than not scoring enough goals to win!! FFS

Would anyone be surprised if it turned out to be "Benardeschi, feeling embarrassed by how much of his play went awry in the first half, got pissed and crawled down Gutierrez's throat for his shit defending, at which point Hedges stepped into defend him, the two came to blows and ..."

I know, probably nothing that exciting. Please Lord, let it end.
