Let me guess, he hurt his foot in training in a "funny way".
That today was an unnecessary escalation.
Tomorrow should be fun.
I suspect Bob thinks giving the front office a "him or me" stance is necessary to reassert his authority.
I don't think it's a battle he's going to win. They're not the 'ra ra Bob' group some seem to think. He's getting lots and lots of time and leeway to fix this purely out of respect for his position within the league and U.S. soccer, but it's not, I suspect, because they have faith he can actually do it. Everything he's doing is actually feeding the narrative that his style isn't a mesh for these players.
Bernie had to take it back, Bob had to fired, or Bernie had to be suspended.
Since the first two didn’t happen, the third is inevitable.
I guess BB has at least these 4 games until the international break.
——-
the key point…. Assuming players generally support Bernie (no way he would have done this if he wasn’t broadly feeling supported imho)….. Players now have an interesting dilemma- dump the games to support Bernie, or try to be a “professional” regardless, which is their DNA
“What the world needs is more geniuses with humility; there are so few of us left.”
The performance tomorrow will tell us everything, it could get really ugly.
This has "we want the manager out" performance written all over it.

Really good look from OneSoccer on the current ongoings (just mute Wheeler). Always like listening to Platt talk TFC.
In contrast with Molinaro all three called Berna's comments as a direct shot at BB (which I think nearly everyone on this board agrees with).

The problem with a bad result tomorrow getting a firing is the precedent it would set.
*****
There was a 2020's way for this to not happen but the parties involved are all too Type A for that and I'm now 3 beers into my weekend so don't expect anything coherent about why this wasn't necessary.
Wheeler is such a frustrating human. He seems nice enough, but almost everything out of his mouth is dumb. I mean, I've never heard him say a single sensible thing. I get no sense that it's an act.
He just drivels endlessly, and it's such shit usually. "You can never publicly criticize a manager!" He's just... why is he in that fucking job?! He has no insight, no common sense, no nuance.
"The answer is you need to back the manager!"
He's a fucking fool.
Platt, meanwhile, has a measured and sensible response, which is that you sit down and figure shit out, but you do it behind closed door and soften the public message.

Wheeler is a product of the 90s and hockey culture.
Platolli has his faults but he's aware the world has changed.
Tried to warn you to mute Wheeler haha
I have genuinely worried for some time that these "lower body injuries" and "he's experiencing some soreness" -- right up to "he think it still feels bad but we're not sure what" -- is basically players "playing to rule", which is that if they have a reason to sit and torpedo the guy a little, they'll take it. They won't tank a game, because that's unethical and against their competitive spirit. But they MIGHT decide to sit when there's any potential reason to.
I do like that all three of the Onesoccer heads brought up the difficulty of a captain being the manager's son.
I should have listened.
I feel a little bad saying that stuff, because he seems a genuinely nice and quite sensitive guy. When we were both working for the Sun, I ripped him a new one over something dumb he'd written, and he wrote me back saying "hey, same team... was it that bad?!" He was genuinely hurt by the tone.
But I've never seen someone so obviously in the job as an enthusiast, and yet so obviously in the wrong job.
Tell that to Chris Armas. There is no way they didn’t let a few “though the gates” in that game. I suspect we will reach that point here too if Bradley isn’t removed quickly
Edit: must read below, The Athletic spilling the dirt

Wish I could read that. Damn paywalls.
Neither Manning nor BB survive that
That Athletic piece is literally everything we've all speculated or taken educated guesses on what has been going on, spelled out.
Manning thinks the world of himself and just does what he wants. There's no club-wide plan, no careful foresight.
Bob does not have the respect of the Italians.
The two Bradleys dynamic messing up the locker room.
The only surprising thing is that apparently it was known that Insigne and Berna didn't really like each other, and they still don't. So obviously we signed them both anyways. Great job Bill.
God this club is depressing. Everything good we've ever done is down to Bezbatchenko and Vanney. They're gone and we're a joke again.
no one is blameless here but manning is the main culprit by far.
everyone else has had huge success at this level or at a higher level.
he's not putting anyone in a position to succeed.
Might need to merge all these evaluation/deathwatch threads and just create a master TFC deathwatch thread.
