Giving Ayo Akinola that u-22 spot fresh off a torn ACL continues to be an awful decision.

That should be interesting. i wonder if he’s regained his form? Last year was especially bad for him between our lamentable defence, the new manager and covid and family problems.
For me he is one of the brightest and most admirably upstanding players we’ve had. The Paris upbringing with a playwright father was not the usual football player profile.

Nah, the team that played decent the second half of last week's game is at home in this one. Atlanta is missing a midfield cog due to a red card & I'm not sure Westberg is an upgrade on Guzan.
Our passing will be crisper due to it being on grass & we should be able to cover their side attacks fairly well.
No subway between St. Clair West & St. Andrew stations.
The King Car runs along King from Dundas West station then up to Queen via Shaw St then onto River Street before it hits Broadview.
King buses running from Exhibition Loop up Bathurst to King then along to Broadside.
i.e. If you are coming in from the NW, make your way down to the Green line then over to Dundas West then streetcar over.

Queen and bay to queen yonge no cars due to construction 4 years
I hope you're right, our expected goals against according to footy stats is 1.48 while our actual is 1.00 which means our opponents have not been clinical near our goal or our keeper is standing on his head either or we cannot sustain this all year, with Hedges out, I am a little concerned about Saturday night.
At least McNaughten and Rosted will have had the week to train together and they looked okay in Nashville. We might not have the same dynamic of one getting forward and the other staying back as with Hedges but they should sort out some sort of workable balance. It’s good for our 3rd CB to get some minutes and overall I think he shows some promise.
Travelling in Europe right now and without naming countries specifically, some places in North America we’d consider “very behind Canada” in so many ways have transportation systems that put us to shame.
Amazing what you can do when your society can actually execute on an infrastructure project or two cost effectively and policy isn’t entirely blunted by developers and suburbanites who must drive in their car downtown like it’s 1920.

So true. Although I’ll offer that 1920 was peaceful. It wasn’t until 1954/55 that the sleepy two lane dirt road by the Exhibition Grounds became a highway (Lakeshore Blvd). The Gardiner too…those roads we are currently spending 1.2 Billion to fix. (Let’s hope we elect a mayor that cancels that wasteful plan).
The suburbs too were farm land in 1920. That was all post war stuff.
From the Atlanta blog:
“The actual training that Gonzalo Pineda reserved for Tuesday’s session was also a bit more nuanced. Specifically, it was more tactical in nature and he kindly asked that media doesn’t report on the finer points of how they were preparing for Toronto. In short, creativity in the final third and build-up play were topics of the day, and polishing up certain mistakes was key.”

not sure what footy stats uses but other sites have it completely different, this one has it as a lil under 1.2 xG for and around 1 xGA.
eye test also feels like SJ hasnt been standing on his head and we've been limiting big chances fairly well.
MLS Eastern Conference: 2023 vs. 2022 in terms of xG created and conceded per game.Top winners (on xG diff.): Toronto (+.58) Cincy (+.56) Columbus (+.56)
FWIW follow-up…

Q stopping a Berna penalty at the south end.....going to name it now so it doesn't happen
If Q is starting...
first of all, I hope he gets a nice welcome for what he did for us in 2019, especially stopping that PK in Atlanta
second of all, can someone get a goal over top of him? that drove me crazy when that happened here, which seemed like it happended constantly the last couple of years.. I just don't think elite keepers can exist anymore given skill level of shooters in better leagues, when they are Q's height. So many are so good at getting "english" on kicks so that the ball is up and over a keeper like Q, but is still on net...
This is the one I remember in particular (go to the 3 minute mark) https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/san-j...ls-match-recap

“What the world needs is more geniuses with humility; there are so few of us left.”
Molinaro tweeted Insigne is training with the team. Maybe a chance still.
^/^^/^^^
Maybe Lolo with an ‘o tir a gir’?
Ok…

Atlanta blog says they're moving towards more high pressing regularly and we probably have that ugliness to look forward to. Oh joy.
Lolo follow-up… looking good…

If all Insigne can play is a few minutes then I rather he not play at all. Put him on the bench for mind games, and that's it.
I rather he come back 100% for 60 min.
Yeah not sure myself, but just took another look at FootyStats and it shows Toronto expected goals at 0.91 and expected goals against at 1.48 and you are right SJ hasn't really stood on his head so it means our opponents haven't found their scoring touch just yet. Hope Hedges does not miss to much time.
