A lotta ifs ands or buts for end of today... Chucky to The Black & Gold, then Fede to The Partenopei?

I believe the deadline is just for inbound transfers. Fede could move later.

Yeah only inbound. Lots of time for outbounds but it'd be nice if they started sooner than later.

Moreover, while I’m on this rant the fact the a Conway is still on the coaching staff after basically ruining the careers of how many keepers now ? How a guy like Bono a young keeper goes from winning an MLS Cup and almost a Champions League to the state he was once he left TFC shows you all you need to know why this club is where it is today !

    Why would Napoli want him?

If Napoli want him, that is their business, NOT ours.

I was waiting for a Partenopeo to chime in. Seems Napoli owner ADL was interested last year as well, tires were kicked, then passed on due to likely/wanted wage; he's stingy. Fede followed the money. A second go around may be happening given their Lozano circumstance...

    Full Article:
    https://www.dailynews24.it/napoli-be...medium=twitter

    Translated Segment:
'With Lozano's farewell, now, the footballer would have proposed himself again to the Azzurri.
The former Juve and Fiorentina would like to return to Italy to demonstrate all his quality.
According to market indiscretion, Bernardeschi also confessed to Lorenzo Insigne,
a former blue captain who now plays in Toronto, that the idea of playing at Maradona excites him.
At the moment there does not seem to be any negotiation,
however, President De Laurentiis has always liked the offensive winger from Carrara.
The only problem could be the engagement.
The footballer would be willing to reduce the salary of about six million received in Toronto but not to go below four million per season.'

Well, that Richie news is crazy. I bet they use him more as an attacker. And yeah, he'll be a DP.

Whitecaps saving TFC from Manning. Phew. Wish Laryea the best, though.

In fact can't see any situation where this makes sense.

Laryea is very good but if he's the face of the franchise DP you're gonna be incredibly mediocre.

I agree, DP is an overreach. This appears to be positioning ahead of the 26 WC. Domestic players on the nat team will be highly marketable and desirable for clubs. Look for us to sign someone within the squad down the road. Osorio borderline for the next cycle IMO.

Nonetheless, seeing your best player on the season suit up for another team is a bit discouraging.

Not for me. Minus a buyout or moving Bernadeschi/Insigne, this is the move I wanted to see. I was worried we would do our usual stupid and overpay to keep him for fan service insead of trying to build a proper roster.

    Loan only until Dec 31st?

Man, I get that sense Richie didn't have many options / interest.

They've committed to buying him and making him a DP.

Reported as planning to make him the "face of the franchise".

I understand and am on board with why we didn't re-sign him, but I'm pissed that he's going to Vancouver. He's been our best player.

I'm happy for Ritchie. I'm also glad that we didn't sign him, especially as a DP. Not worth it for a RB.

Best of luck to him. It's time to move on.

If they're really giving him DP money then more power, I guess. They have the front line to benefit from it.

Richie is one of the best backs in MLS. But is he going to create dramatically more scoring chances than Julian Gressel or Mo Farsi? Probably not, and no one in their right mind would make them a DP. Ultimately, a wingback only spends a portion of his time on the overlap or trying to penetrate along the goal line, and it's a hell of a luxury to pay a primarily two-way defender top money.

I'd be really curious if this is Manning suddenly, after 5 years, actually learning from his past mistakes and saying "you know, this will make people happy with me in the short term but hurt us in the long term and that's not good"

Or he was just told by MLSE that he won't be given the money to match the Vancouver offer

Either way, it's a pity it's an MLS team but, Canada aside, it's not an Eastern rival and that's a good thing and mostly I'm just glad we didn't do something as short sighted as make him a DP, despite him being a genuinely really good player at this level

And his defending and positioning are not DP quality.

We dodge a Manning sized bullet on this one.

I think Hernandez is more in charge of things like this and I have a feeling he isn't a moron like Manning so I would hesitate to say Manning learned anything.

Just glad it's not us overpaying absurdly for him.

Staring at my watch currently… buyout or Diomande would be good enough. Give us something…

Getting into the hard, harsh business of mistakes is kind of important right now. I sent my team contact a suggestion today that if we're cleaning house, they need to start looking at their existing staff, particularly scouting, and what they've actually produced. They've all been there a minimum of three years, are all -- to my eyes -- pretty underqualified for their roles. Given how little they've contributed, that's probably not surprising.

But I suspect general hiring policies have revolved around getting people who seemed easy to work with and likeable, rather than people who are aggressively goal-oriented and self-directed to improve.

I’d like to know how the existing scouting staff was incorporated to the decision process before making any harsh judgments.

It strikes me that people like Bradley aren’t terribly good at listening to their subordinates. Or, they come from a time when a MLS Front Office staff was like 3 guys sitting in a room together shooting the shit and so having multiple teams of people is beyond their management capabilities.

yep, and so many moves recently have been short term moves to placate the fanbase rather than ones with long term squad building in mind.

that would have been adding laryea as a DP.
