Hmm... so based on a little more digging at his numbers, they bought him as a 22-year-old and brought him along slowly, first with a year in Div. 3, then two years as a backup (only about 200 minutes the first year). So his lack of scoring for a couple of years was possibly mostly a matter of minutes and experience.

The year before last he had no goals in 21 games, but they were all junk minutes, 12 minutes here, 15 minutes there.

Last year, he got some starts early in the season but didn't score, and then was consigned to the bench again. But I suspect someone got injured because in the last two months, he got a bunch of starts and scored 7 goals in their last 11 games.

So that's positive, potentially. When actually given the lead role, he pretty much filled the net regularly.

If that's a trend that holds and he's just hitting his stride that would be a hell of a spot, I have to admit.

This also makes me wonder where they envision Cassius playing. Wide right? Second striker?

Yes to both. I was told they expect him to play wide right and, when we're playing with two forwards, as second striker. He played both and Sundowns.

Also, Owusu is tough: he fractured his orbital bone and missed 1 game.

Hopefully that rubs off on the rest of the team. If BMO has a slight breeze 3 players go down injured at the moment.

Which is basically the exact role Bernardeschi plays. Anything on him leaving?

IMO, Luanda just pointed out 'the tell'. That is known as an unintentional admission for any Lionel Hutzs. Suggesting to me that they have been engaged with TFC at the least.

Further digging reveals he was a major youth star there but blew out his knee and then tore a thigh muscle in successive seasons, effectively robbing him of a year of development.

So he's 26 but has a 23-year-old's level of playing time. He hasn't had another major leg injury in eight years, so hopefully there's no worry there. He does bang in the box, too, lots of cards.

I was just told it's proving "extremely tough." His performances will scare off anyone considering that kind of money. I suspect we'll have to eat a year of his deal to free him up for a cheaper transfer next season. I don't think there's any sense he'll be around, as his attitude hasn't really changed.

A little more insight. I think this signing is perfectly fine. It won't stop us from pursuing a u-22 or DP striker. Just gives us more options.

He's also 6'3. Buksa sort, maybe? The "bit athletic and better in the air" is optimistic, too.

EDIT: Hmmm... from penalty videos he looks more Kai Kamara-ish, maybe a little beefier.

Sounds like they were given an interview and have yet to hear any feedback.

Hernandez/Manning probably just doing a bunch of interviews during this break.

Maybe referencing Toronto FC's Instagram account; post of a montage of video clips of the footballer in action?

No expectations beyond we will see.

Doubt he's our long term striker solution.

As part of getting excited about the World Cup, I saw a Regensburg game last year (right before Kennedy got hurt).

    Here is my scouting report:

I do not remember this player. Don’t know if he played or not.

    Something else must be afoot.

Toronto FC announced today that the club has acquired $50,000 in 2024 General Allocation Money (GAM) from Minnesota United in exchange for the Right of First Refusal to midfielder Liam Fraser.

Lol. Minnesota then dealt Fraser's rights to Dallas for 100k in GAM.

Man that must chaff the front office: we flip Fraser's rights to Minny for 50k, they turn right and get 100k for them.

Maybe part of a TFC gesture regarding Caden Clark?

Props to Minnesota's admin. TFC should of acquired him/her in the deal. We could definitely use an upgrade in that department.
