For a 28 year old that is the gold standard. Larin got 5 years. Insigine got the same but hes a much bigger name. I think for Berna to wanted to sign here we had to give him 5 years. Or 4.5 to be exact

    Yep ridiculously long.

Luckily he's young enough to have some pull in Europe.

His transfermarkt value currently is 8 million euros so if they get him for next to nothing then it's not a bad deal for all involved (wages too high but balanced out by low or no fee).

I think if they pay us, we would simply turn around and give that money to Bernie to support the buyout. But regardless, looks like a few unknowns here but directionally closer to a deal.

If 4 mill net is accurate (and dimarzio is the gold standard), then he'd be down 1 mill net, assuming his contract is the same every year here.

Could very well even out if his salary dips the last couple of years here as mlse have done in past.

Anyways let's just get him out I'll pay for his flight lmao.

Dimarzio is legit they're just quoting his report.

Hope this goes through. I get the feeling the team will really turn it around with him out. New formation

    -----------Prince-----------
    Insigne - Osorio - Cassius
    ------Ibarra---- Coello--------

More to the point two dp spots available in the offseason.

    Need a dp striker badly.

Possibly 3 DP spots if rumors' are to be true.

That's huge to turn this around.

But yea even 2 - I would add DP#9 and likely another DP attacking mid.

Agreed. I don’t hate the guy but a lot of things have gone wrong around here and are extremely messy. If we had an open DP spot and some cash to spend that would make a huge difference.

Even if we have to cover the reported 1 mill euro difference in salaries would still be great

We need a TAM $1.6 million striker. Our two DP spots need to be filled up with a CAM/CDM and a RW. Cassius will move around id imagine

    So, new formation, perhaps...

    -----------Owuso-----------
    --Insigne - Osorio - Cassius--
    ------Ibarra---- Coello--------
    Petretta----Makila-----Rosted-----JMR
    ------------Johnson------------

Bench: Gutierrez, Servania, Franklin, O’Neill, Kerr, Thompson, Romero

    (dispose Sapong, Vasquez, Bradley)

I have a sent a note asking about Besiktas. We shall see, I guess. Might not tell me.

To put to bed notions otherwise, I will note that Owusu was discovered by their new analytics specialist, Kausti.

Kausti first name, Kausti last name? I don't know. Quick search didn't help. Hernandez told him what they were looking for, Kausti breaks down the numbers, their Euro scout Colin goes and checks him out.

I am told this rebuild is the the first time they've used all three levels related to selecting a player properly, rather that it just coming from the AGM or head of scouting.

No, they just have low standards. They also reported the “Insigne to Saudi” rumour off Twitter and it was entirely bogus.

I wonder if any of them ever even bother to just call the club and try to get a denial.

We’re seeing in this era the natural outcomes of all the dysfunction DeRo talked about in their early days. As long as they were printing seasons tickets in bulk and the value of the franchise was skyrocketing, nobody paid any attention to what anyone else was doing.

Feels like the worst of Canadian corporate culture. We act like a lazy monopolist and just bumble along as nobody will seriously punish as for our mistakes.

Makes me wonder if there are other MLS teams like this - San Jose & ATL & Colorado come to mind.

Yeah, I don't think this is uncommon. Most teams still don't really have their act together. There's a level of U.S. Soccer old boys' network that is really unhealthy.

One year ago everyone was so excited with the arrival of Insigne and Berna, and look how that turned out. The last successful DP signing was Poz and that was back in 2019. As long as Manning is around why is there any reason to believe that a turn around is possible?

I mean I'm glad they are doing it now but alarming (and not surprising) that our recruitment has been so one dimensional and poor.

Only if he has at very most a rubber stamping role, where he let's others do the actual legwork of identifying and recruiting players.

I agree though there's no way he should still be employed.

KAUST is the acronym of a big Saudi university. A quick google search reveals they are doing a soccer analytics AI thing. Suspect this is what TFC may be using.

    https://www.kaust.edu.sa/en/news/soc...ai-to-the-game

It's a crowdsourced tech, and for those who know anything about that, this is a widely debated corner of AI, where there is a lot of skepticism (how “good” is the data in these data sets?)
