I don't normally recommend people visit the intellectual cess pit that is Reddit, but the comments on the r/tfc page about the kit are excorciating. Just hundreds lining up to piss on this awful design and explain why they won't be buying it.
I'm starting to think we may have some general competence issues in the front office, still.
Remember how last season they tried forcing the away strip down everyone's throats by repeatedly playing at HOME with it? So now it's two years without a proper strip at home. You'd think they were trying to force a new grey-based color scheme or something, it's so inane and incompetent.
Whoever's responsible for making the marketing calls really is getting a sweetheart ride.

The comments on instagram are pretty brutal as well.
I think we are going to see a lot of the white kit this year too. TFC often wore red on the road against darker teams but with that won’t happen with this onyx kit.
Also, I noticed in the Canadian Press article that it mentions that a third kit is likely to come. Hopefully that can fix this mess.
As I said above, Mark Hinkley may want to lay low for the season. Kinda feel bad for the guy. Had a chance to do a fan kit and it’s received as the worst kit ever.
I feel very bad for him. There are people in positions of power who make big money for exactly this reason. To make good decisions, to use good judgement. Letting one singular fan design a jersey, that isn't the teams main colour scheme. That should never have made it past the conceptual phase. This is a failure of management (as usual for TFC) and this dude gets a complete pass from me. It's literally Homer designing the car, just shouldn't have happened.

Just copy liverpool for fuck's sake. All red, crest under the v for a change. Elegant, simple, maybe a nice off-red ghost image or design on the shirt but not entirely necessary.

It's UNIQUELY us - this year's kits from Adidas have been better than not this year. Like, how can you get everything right BEHIND the kit - fan-inspired, good community story, seems to be liked by the players... but just completely bomb on the design for the fans?

My first take was how desperate people were to see the onyx again as said above but with the flop that was last years split screen model I like this new one a heluva lot better.

As an alternate kit, I don't think it would be bad, but as the main home kit... yikes... reverse the red/dark grey and you might be onto something.
Besides bringing back the long sleeves (and I love grey), there's always the adidas parley kit that they use around earth day... Here's hoping that one is not a dud either...
My 2009 LS Away grey really needs a replacement...

It would look so much better as an alternate jersey with onyx sleeves. The design they chose is...interesting.
Maybe I'm a traditionalist, but our primary jersey should be mostly red.

Seems 'others', non TFC supporters, adversarial supporters or pundits, even neutrals, may not have that much of an issue with the kit as some of us may have; with middle of the pack or ambivalent rankings?

I don’t mind this kit. It’s just not a TFC home kit-not enough red. It’s also not a TFC away kit-too much red. I’m one of the people that has been screaming for a decent onyx kit. I loved the last one. I liked last years white kit, I just wished all the white was onyx. This for me just means next years away kit will be all white which I dislike.
