Apparently Mateusz Klich from leeds is moving to MLS- seems like TFC kind of player over 30- believe a free transfer as leeds let him out of his contract and him not wanting to be on the bench .

Is this possible - he wouldn't be signed a DP would he ?

Its possible, Jonathan Osorio market value is $3.5 million to Mateusz Klich market value of $2 million

Also, at the risk of Leeds giving me sh*t for saying it, he’s not that great. Wouldn’t want him to be our third DP!

lol thank goodness- seems like everyone loved him on Leeds. Im happy TFC didnt sign him- but would have oddly found a way to be happy about some movement. these days drag on forever. feels like they are doing their due diligence while everyone else is making moves.

    cmon lets get going now.

🇳🇴 Fredrik Bjørkan reportedly turned down an offer from Toronto FC, because he wanted to return home to Bodø/Glimt. The 24 year old Norwegian left back had joined Hertha Berlin a year ago.

Just to throw out a name for a DP striker, Teemu Pukki’s contract expires at the end of the season. Norwich is about to name their new manager. Pukki will be one of the players whose future he’ll have to decide on. Might be available in the summer or possibly even now if he’s not in the rebuilding plans. Pukki would be great in MLS.

this confirms that the team does, indeed, know what positions they want to fill and had candidates prepared.

What's interesting is that we had two targets from Eliteserien.

He's MLS DP quality, easily. He's an excellent player.

I wouldn't want him as a DP because he's 32 and losing some of his mobility, which for an attacking midfielder is eventual kiss of death, but I bet he does well at DC.

I suspect he'll be high TAM, not a DP, but he was on DP money at Leeds so it's possible.

I'm not sure on the bold in terms of the plural candidates. We'll see if they lined up a legit shortlist if they manage to get a legit leftback before Feb.

    couple of thoughts:

    1. Mavinga- happy he is gone- until i see what he signed for- I have a feeling it will be a good deal- if thats the case id rather have him as a backup CB- he only looked good beside moor/OG.

    2. Laryea- We shouldnt assume he will be returning- its bad business to have to buy him back -when TFC could have made him the 900K offer initially- if we have to buy Id rather look elsewhere

Those odds reflect last year, not this year’s player acquisition. Otherwise NYCFC, who have sold off everyone, and Montreal wouldn’t be that high.

Is there a credible site, with current/updated odds for MLS, as of today, you recommend?

If we didn't already have osorio playing the same position I'd be happy for him to be a DP.

Odds checker is always good for this https://www.oddschecker.com/football...mls-cup/winner

The bookmakers basically, right now, do not have any faith in us this season (even taking into account potential moves) but that will change if we actually do make good, confirmed signings. Long way to go still.

We did. We offered him a new deal on more than a million per season, making him the highest paid fullback in the league, and he turned it down. He really wanted to try Europe.

Forest paid about a million or him as well, he wasn't free. So they'll want to recoup, given that he didn't play. They might want more, as Championship sides are after him.

championship sides were after him on loan, i doubt how many will be willing to shell out $$ for him.

i reckon it'll be a very cheap deal. forest looking like they are getting it together and will be safe, that amount is nothing to a prem team.

leeds just canceled klich's contract to let him join DC united when they could have easily recouped a similar fee if they had shopped him around. could see a similar thing happening here.

Odds makers have historically been really bad with MLS. I remember there was a period last season where Berna was like the 6th most likely to score a goal for TFC, despite taking PKs and scoring in like four straight games (or something like that). His goal scoring odds were comparable to Achara. Was an easy money maker for me.

this is the feeling ive got since the poz deal and the extra $2million it cost TFC.

also im still worried why no one is jumping to come play with LI And FB - this is a no brainer isnt it?

MLS is still a hard sell and Canada makes it an even harder sell. Not everything is about the football side of it or even the family side of living here. There's our ridiculous taxes and some dissatisfaction with our current government in the eyes of a lot people from different countries.

didnt we just sign a top free agent CB and re-sign another top free agent CM who had offers from europe?

hedges had like a quarter of the league after him and cited playing with LI and FB as a big reason why he came.

this isn't true lol, decent accountants can make any tax differences between countries disappear in a second.

canada is one of the most desirable countries to live in in the world according to most surveys.

We have a reciprocal tax agreement with the US that says a citizen working in one country doesn't have to pay taxes in both. We probably have similar deals with other G7 nations. So it depends where the person locates their 'permanent residence.' It's relatively easy for an athlete living in Toronto part-time as a player to claim his residence elsewhere. It only becomes avoidance if there's no reciprocal arrangement or the person avoids additional taxes, such as secondary income from domestic merch sales etc.

Surveys of people who have no experience here. Talking to actual people who have visited and/or have family here changes that opinion. There was a recent follow up survey to that one (we're dropping in that one too) that many new immigrants after 5 years in Canada regret coming. We're not all peaches and flowers anymore. We have a decent level of gun & overall crime safety compared to the U.S (and dropping) and barely average healthcare (also dropping) and that's about it.
