Looks like Saeter makes 400K NKR so that's around $40K USD. If they offer him a Jaden Nelsen level deal he would probably jump at it.
    yeah let's say 400K fee + 150-200K salary over 4 years only 250K-300K budget charge / year.

He sounds like an interesting guy to bring in. Even the kids are on decent money these days in MLS, it might be fun to see one or two of those spots taken by players of this sort of possibility. Once the individual ‘budget charge’ in this league gets to a certain point players need to work out… but the lower salaries not necessarily.

If we are looking at Scandinavian strikers, cool, what about this guy?

    yep!

keeping oso, adding a mid depth piece and stalwart MLS proven defender is an excellent start.

underrated too is the tomas romero signing. 95K budget hit for a GK with 20+ MLS games to be backup. we could add sean johnson and the budget hit for the 2 GKs would still be lower than last year.

need to keep going tho, we still need:

    - starting GK
    - starting LB
    - Starting CB
    - Starting striker
    - depth CM
    - depth utility player (ideally who can play fullback and CM)

    but yes, very good start.

Definitely, definitely, definitely need a new GK. No way around that.

I would argue at least one more fullback signing is probably must-have too. The other stuff, I would prefer to have in place to start the season but we can probably scrap without it for a few months if needed.

Def need two fullbacks. Starting leftback and then someone capable on the bench. Should Richie not return you really want that bench guy to be capable of filling in while they sign someone.

The kids are just not options you want to rely on and Kosi was a disaster at right back last year. Talented obviously, but not a right back in any winning side.

Once Vázquez was picked in the Reentry draft it probably eliminated any chance Bustos has. VV is taking that bench AM role

i feel like because MLS is pretty top heavy (way better attackers on average than defenders) it will be a while until you see a CPL attacker make a successful move to the MLS.

When the Italian press first picked up the Criscito retirement story it wasn’t a retirement story but a returning to Genoa story. They were right.

I'm surprised Montreal drafted a keeper. They don't have an MLSNP team, just a PLSQ team. They've been loaning players to the CPL (including keepers Pantemis and Sirois to Valour the last three years), but Valour has a new 1st choice keeper in Yesli and I think all the other teams have a #1 already. It may be tough for Christoffersen to get playing time if CFM wants to sign him (sending him to PLSQ is too low of a level)

Criscito definitely had the skills and smarts for MLS, but maybe no longer had the legs. If nothing else MLS is a physically demanding league. Plus Toronto is an expensive city to live in and he wasn't on a DP salary.

i mean it's not hard to live here on 1.5 M.

i do think the travel is incredibly tough on 35/36 year old legs tho, as is playing on field turf.

Maybe he didnt like the toxic environment+ losing culture- over promised that TFC could win it all last season.

Doesnt make sense since his best friend is in Toronto- must have been worse then it seemed.

Embarassing could keep him longer- yes his legs were shot- but he still had a phenomenal skill set that the yute could have learned from.

This might be surprising, but some people find Italy infinitely nicer in terms of livability, way of life, etc, than Canada, and especially Toronto. There's a reason no one wants to come back after going to Italy on vacay!

But if Criscito is under contract with TFC, and it’s not a retirement, wouldn’t Genoa have to give us something in return if he goes to play there ?
