Surely would have to be announced very soon if for next season.

    Teams are planning roster moves.

I'm way more in on callens.

Way better on the ball and would suit us better.

Okello was also outstanding for TFC in the first leg vs Leon in CCL.

Seems like a million years ago but it was not even 18 months ago.

Bummed for the kid, and for us. I thought he couldn’t miss. I hope he finds a decent shot elsewhere.

the word from NYRB fans is that he wants to go home to Cali so the galaxy or LAFC would be the teams to potentially get him.

Not a fan of Michael Bradley conspiracy threads (lol), but we have a long term Michael Bradley thread for anyone to post about him.

    http://forums.redpatchboys.ca/showth...read&p=1972831

Since MB most certainly is not leaving the club right now, discussion of him is off topic to this thread. Please post in the proper thread. This thread is about roster changes.

He didn't notice Vasquez...that's more concerning to me.

NYRB's whole ethos is "chaos will provide us with chances that will more often then not give us leads that will allow us to sit back a bit deeper". When they don't have the lead & have to chase the game, or in this case, are in the "Chaos zone" of the last 10 minutes of a tied game, NYRB's defence can get caught out.

    NYRB doesn't do disciplined defence.

    We need disciplined defence.

I think Long is not an instant answer to our needs but would be somebody that, with the right defensive coaching, could solidify that back line.

I'm not sure we have the right defensive coaching.

    Speaking of which

Does anybody know which assistant is coaching our defence?

To me we need to upgrade the GK coach but we've not had a really good defence coach since Preki. Moor was our defacto defence coach.

I still say we should rack up an NFL style team of coaching specialists to work on every facet of the game.

To be fair Preki’s defence was largely at the expense of the attack. But with several marquee DP’s on this team capable of individual brilliance, maybe more of that sort of thinking should be the order of the day.

He was an assistant at Seattle for years helping them with defense. We could use some of that here.

Like Vanney & Frasier were CB's & FB's...and they both can't coach defence worth Beans in Libbyland

I'm not sure BB is an improvement on that.

We are pining for Preki now?

This makes me feel both sad and old, both at the same time.

That team was depressing to watch. We only averaged one goal against and we missed the playoffs by one point. But we scored even fewer.

I seem to recall some question about his relationship with agents and that eastern european DM we signed who was total ass.

    Nah, don't want Preki

Just want somebody that can actually coach a defence.

And as an assistant. It makes sense to add one along with a new GK coach.

I bet Conway is back though. He'll still be ruining GKs long after I am dead & buried.

Insigne is way overpaid but also you don't get fede or mimmo without overpaying for him first.

Plus he makes signing new high quality players a lot easier.

As long as MLS keeps the DP mechanism, it's the only way for teams like TFC to flex their financial muscles. Personally, I'd prefer if we could spend $3M on 5 players rather than $15M on one player. Its a good thing that TFC is splashing huge dollars here.

I agree. I'd actually like to see Boger's government supported monopoly that I've had to pay tons of excess fees to get over the years pay more over-inflated salaries for the sport I care about! About time I got something out of years of rip-off!

I noticed Berndardeschi's Base Salary is $3,125,000, but his guaranteed is $6,256,322.

Guessing TFC/MLSE did the Maple Leafs thing of giving a huge upfront signing bonus (which I believe MLSPA amortizes over the life of the contract). So maybe he got something like $15 million upfront?

So who won the gross vs net debate? 🤔

Seriously though that's an insane amount of spend for an MLS team.

i didm but it doesnt matter at all.

we'll only be able to assess this outlay over the next couple of years if we're being honest.

but i will say interest in TFC has never been higher, and that's in a team that only had one good run this year.

the attendance vs miami was a couple thousand higher than the 2019 playoff game vs DC.

Still dont believe that is the number…. And lets see what it blends out to over 4 years. But for today its $14. Matthews is going to be asking for a raise!!! (LOL)

all about ROI, that's what MLSE and these orgs look at.

leafs would sell out every game at crazy prices with or without matthews, insigne signing has spiked interest to levels never seen before (and that's before the team even starts winning).

are you sure? maybe regained interest with italian community- everyone i know lost interest or faith regardless of insigne who didnt look that great and had more individual brilliance more than anything- same can be said for Berna and Mimo.

Most goals and assist were brilliant individual plays.

They said they sold out but keep emailing me to buy more tickets-

Insigne will be 32 before the playoffs start and halfway thru the MLS season. ROI doesnt seem great so far in my opinion which is subjective by the way(and i dont believe you created the conspiracy thread -"in jest"

they had more fans at the dead rubber miami game than they did at the last TFC home playoff game in 2019.

they have a ST base back up to 2018 levels after the MLS cup win.

so yeah, interest is at an all time high.

and yes, it was for all the crazy conspiracy theories about michael bradley, which were clogging up this thread. we had someone in here saying that he coached auro junior to pass backwards lol.

and i deleted it ini the end, not sure why you're bringing it up.
