looks like NYCFC are being linked to GKs, suggests that sean johnson will not be signing a new contract.
I don't really rate Petrasso. If he were younger I'd think he has more of a shot. He looks likely to wind up a journeyman. Might be wrong. I was wrong about Oso.
Maybe there is still interest in Diego Laxalt?
By the by...
We were talking the other day about the CPL and whether it could ever be good enough to be a feeder. I notice they've upped minimum salaries to at least $30K and overall salary budgets to $1.2M, or something like that.
Seems a good move. If they bring in more marginal foreign talent to make it more competitive, then it's both an occasional feeder for missed Canadians and a scouting opportunity for young foreigners.
FWIW, Hollingshead's FootballCritic stats seem to indicate that in his last 50 matches he has played on the left 60% of the time to 40% on the right.
Add him and a Mamah's descent like Blessings and our Swiss Army Knife Contingent is addressed and ready.
Petrasso being shipped out could just be to make space for Themi Antonoglou. They're both LB/LM players. Themi is a year younger (21) than Petrasso (22)
I was going to take some time this evening to refresh myself better with the TFCII roster.
Next seasons best first-team candidates.
IIRC, Antonoglou was called up several times last season; I think he got on the pitch at least once, maybe as a sub?
My recollection of his performance is hazy; seem to remember he was not ready for prime time?
I hope our reliance on the yutes is tempered this season with the presence of more/better veteran depth.

I checked game notes for the last few appearances and he mostly played left mid. Rohan Goulborne, who is a year younger, was playing left back. But TFCII also played quite a bit of 3-4-3, so he was sort of playing as an advanced wingback, I think, like N. Forrest used last year.
350k gam for petrasso.
Potentially 50k more based on performance.
Decent business that.
$350k+ up to $50k in performance incentives. A decent return, but I think I'd prefer to have Petrasso. https://www.torontofc.ca/news/toront...change-for-gam
If they signed hollingshead, this deal would pay for him in 2023.
350k is fine. Petrasso is a decent player, but I don't think they are moving him without a backup plan.
That said, if the backup plan is converting Jayden Nelson to LB...
Seriously losing another fullback? Losing another one of the kids that actually looked functional?
I feel like I’m watching a bus drive into a wall in slow motion with the front office sometimes.
I expected us to get nothing. In isolation this isn't a bad return for him at all, it's a pretty good one, actually. Next step is getting talent in, but I don't hate this deal as much as most of the other trade outs we've made
My only issue with talent out is that they are dogshit at efficiently getting talent in. Every player that leaves unnecessarily just raises the risk that this team is a mess again.
