I like it. Wonder what the story is post LAFC? Didn’t get a ton of games in overseas

Sure?
SURPRISE STRIKER is very welcome.
Bob and his Norwegians. Chased the money? China and Qatar. Returned to little opportunity in Eliteserien. Interesting. A known quantity to Bob.
If I'm not mistaken, Diomande would fit that holding #9 type of striker that we have been missing. This has to be a bargain basement contract though, it appears he has not played much in the last three years, roughly 400 min since 2019 if FBREF is accurate. He played well under Bradley so hopefully we get a serviceable player.
im guessing young money signings will be mostly CM, maybe a fullback.
Very interesting and out of friggin' nowhere. Does this spell the end for one of Jesus or Ayo? You gotta think so.
Out of the league for awhile but still acquired via waivers?
I be confused
From the Toronto FC.ca article today. Bob had some comments about our strikers issues last year. Pretty scathing for Akinola and Jimenez, both need to improve this year (assuming one of them isn't sold earlier).
"“From an attacking standpoint, the number of times we created an advantage, but as the ball comes the attacker is not quite ready or he's facing backwards or he can’t, on the run, take the first touch to get through to goal,” he continued. “We have to improve in all of these moments. In so many situations last year we had people in pretty good spots, but our ability to deal with the moment wasn't good enough.”"
It's got to be Ayo. I don't see Bob moving on from someone he personally got and Akinola hasn't been very impressive.

this guy has had all the best years of his career under bob.
no surprise he is wanting to link up again.
Yea, Akinola really struggled last year but that's largely due to his injury recovery. I do think our other TFC academy kids may be overrated. This is a very generalized statement and hyperbolic but it does appear to me that our top academy prospects get a little too comfortable and start thinking their skill can take them where they need to go. Those that have been passed over in the academy or left early have something more to prove and potentially grasp the concept that they need to work EXTRA hard every day to reach their goals.
For this reason I am good with TFC moving on from our academy kids early if they're not achieving what we need. A) it shows the rest of the academy kids this is the real football world B) it teaches those that have been transferred that they need to start working hard or they'll get passed over again (thinking of Priso, Fraser, Petrasso, Noble etc). and C) those that are transferred still get a chance in a different environment to prove themselves and help the CMNT.
Nice to see that Dio's most successful spells have all been under Bob. Also a few LAFC fans citing really positive comments about him. Here's hoping he stay's healthy and provides that extra spark for us up top.
How accurate this is i’m not sure, as im going from memory, but I believe they released him in LAFC to move home so that he could deal with an addiction issue. LA was not seen as the best place for that.
Hes very talented, natural finisher. he has a big stride, might help make up for age.
He was on $935,000 in 2019 with LAFC. We're now his 5th team since 2021 after stints in China, Qatar, and Norway. Probably a reclamation contract under Bob if he wants to play with someone familiar to get back on track after all that bouncing around. It being a 2 year deal+team option for 25 means it's probably not super cheap (he'd be more likely to sign a cheap one year deal as a proving himself contract to earn more). Won't be like his LAFC salary, but maybe 150-250k?

Interesting. From ‘we need a Diomande type of 9” to… Diomande himself!
I didn’t think he was still playing. Seems he has had a very up and down past bunch of years including at times with LAFC.
I’m expecting Akinola to be traded for GAM… that would give us three under 23 spots for Bradley use to fill still many holes in the roster.
so that makes 6 out of 7 import spots taken.but im not sure if vv or dio still count has imports

Some Dio highlights.
Now all we need is SJ and a LB and we're pretty set heading into the season.
Seems washed as hell. Coming off muscular injury. 32. Has played under 30 games since 2020 in subpar leagues with a subpar scoring record.
I’m very skeptical, if this is a bench signing I’d imagine it’s fine. But this reminds me so much of Terrence Boyd that I’m reliving that CCL penalty miss.
Press release scrubs his career nosedive post-LAFC lol

ok BB you wanna go the familiar route, then do this Eduard Andrés Atuesta i dare you
We should still have 3 import spots left (I think you were including Rosted, so it'd be 2 spots if he gets added)
Canadian teams received 3 extra spots last year that can be used on players who have played at least one season (so Jimenez uses that type).
Then for the regular 7 we have - Insigne, Bernadeschi, Diomande, and Vazquez (unless his previous TFC years would allow him to use the extra type).
Feels like a last resort, we couldn’t sign our targets type of move. He’s been available since season ended in November.
he's scored 49 in 78 under bob, and 50 in 200 in games not under bob. real system player.
also has had a ton of success in MLS which is good.
will be dirt cheap, and allows to spend the big money and young dp spots on CM depth and defenders.
really smart pickup and gives a different option up top.
