I can't see him signing for any club in SerieA just to ride the bench for a year.

This is a good move. TFC sells him, gets $1M in GAM and can re-invest it into the club. There's probably a sweet spot in developing players so you can transfer them out for $1M+, get the max GAM possible and then just spending that on new players.

Would be a huge blow for TFC, the one youth player that made improvement after Insigne arrived and now we're getting even thinner in midfield/left wing.

Maybe he goes back to Genoa to try and help them get back to Serie A while getting his coaching badges? Genoa is in 3rd place right now so they have a decent shot at promotion.

Maybe MLSE should seriously consider buying a team(s) in Europe and use TFC as a feeder to Europe and vice versa. Now we have one more player to fill. We need so many players, just buy a team.

EDIT - Would allow Manning to deflect for another two years (only said half joking)

    Not that far fetched.

Not saying this is improbable. Certainly there is potential here and post-Davies and others young Canadians can command a reasonable price.

But part of me wonders if this isn’t more “JMR to Europe” talk. Put the product in the shop window and see who bites.

The Belgian team he trained with wanted him. I am not sure about multiple teams being interested but at least that one was.

IMHO, won't happen as/with 'MLSE' in any short term.
Certainly not until the status of Toronto as an NFL city is settled.
Likely within the next two expansion cycles of 4 teams; so 8 to 40 by 2030.
Also, depending on another series of circumstances, if/should the Blue Jays join the fold.

LAFC re-signs Latif Blessing. So that's out.

They declined Cristian Tello, trying to get him cheaper. Obviously a good player at this level but couldn't get a start there.

Hollingshead is negotiating with them as a free agent.

NYFC confirms Callens and Johnson are both out of contract at the end of December and free to sign with whomever they'd like.

They haven't tendered contracts to either, it sounds like.

1.3 M GAM (1.55 when you remove salaries) for Nelson and petrasso (and more money into club piggy bank) is good stuff.

Sean johnson and Alexander Callens are likely free agents and would likely cost a similar amount. A top end GK and CB in this league.

Am I naive for thinking we should sign Pantemis? By no means do I think he’s a starter but absent a strong young prospect, I think it’s good to put a floor under your keeper position so if we can’t find the right player this off-season at least we have something to last us through summer.

His existing salary of $150k a year would make it a pretty low-risk deal.

If a player wants to move to Europe, you have to let him go. It's good if you can get some cash along the way.

I agree with this. He had mixed numbers last year but was a lot better than Breza and his save percentage was only a point off Sean Johnson's, with a lousier defense ahead of him.

He's a competitive backup, ideal. The starter has to worry he might blossom or take his job if he fucks the dog.

    Criscito & Cesar & Frings & Koevermans

We have had some decent rental type players over the years, when you think about it.

God I hope they have guys lined up already.

6-7 new starters plus filling the bench? All before Feb?

They’re putting pressure on themselves to deliver big time here.

I will keep repeating it, even though I know they won't bring him back. Auro should be returning.

We never heard anything bad about him, until just before his loan. I almost feel like they asked him to be buddies with Soteldo, then the Soteldo thing went poorly, and then they shipped him out because of Soteldo. He always seemed to be a great teammate and on good terms with everyone. If he was a poor teammate/not committed it wouldn't have taken 4 years to figure that out and his 2022 option shouldn't/wouldn't have been picked up last December, but it was. And then they shipped him out after they picked it up. There's definitely something more to it. Something must've happened at the first training camp last year (which he was at - he wasn't at the second one). I want him back, but I know he won't be back.

    Defoe.

Then there are all the guys who spent only a few games here but had nice to great MLS careers after leaving - Cronin, Dunivant, Plata, Silva, Buddle, Frei (sort of), Tchani, Urruti, Laba.

    Hot take:

It wouldn't surprise me if MLSE made an offer for Ronaldo.

Not saying it would happen, but I can see them at least making an offer. Remember he is friends with Fede.
