Not a SSH; I go to usually 6 to 8 games per season, buying tix on either Ticketmaster or Stubhub. On Wed I took my kid to the Galaxy match, and the night before we went to the Jays game. At the Jays, we sat 2 rows back of the Jays dugout (Espinal gave my kid a ball which was nice) for $86 per seat, on Stubhub. At TFC the next night, S-120, R-9, $144 per seat on Stubhub. (I was also able to look at the Ticketmaster certified resale options where they show the face value of the seats, and the TFC face value was also higher.)
Interestingly, on Wednesday night, TFC outdrew the Jays 29,130 to 28,572. TFC seats are in demand.

This also underscores the paucity of media coverage TFC gets from the main outlets. The gate revenue for TFC Wednesday night had to be at least 50% higher than the Jays. Sports fans in Toronto voting with their wallets clearly value TFC. It's so strange the way the media treats football as a fringe offering.

I have a theory about this
its all about money. If tfc stadium is full why waste valuable airtime talking about tfc
blue jays can get millions of viewers all watching commercials every 10- 15 minutes
tfc games have no commercials. No money
Also, number of people watching tfc at home is really small compared to blue jays

For footy fans Roger's Sportsnet (aka Blue Jays tv) is public enemy number one, while TSN is public enemy number two. The day TSN stops showing TFC is the day I cancel both from my cable package. Unfortunately if I want TSN I automatically get Sportsnet as part of the same package.

I don't know which corporation is more despicable, Roger's, Bell, or Air Canada. By no means am I a socialist but if all 3 of these were nationalized I can't fathom the level of service currently provided to be any worse.

The blue jays are a content machine for Sportsnet. A three hour game every day, they show Jays in 30 a couple times a day. A 30 minute pre game show, an hour long radio show every day. TFC just isn’t there from a content perspective. Plus the Jays pull huge TV numbers across Canada, whereas interest in TFC is much more localized.

Tim Micaleff (and previously Sid) are a big voice for soccer on Sportsnet though. He’ll often include soccer in his shows.

I get that. I am speaking from a personal perspective. Because I like footy and dislike baseball I get annoyed by Sportsnet. Given that Roger's is a shareholder in MLSE you would think they would show some interest in promoting TFC instead of just ramming the Jays down our throats.

On one of the Italians and TFC history:

“Right winger Federico Bernardeschi has scored in all four of his home matches for TFC, including against the Galaxy on Wednesday. He is the fourth player to score in four straight home matches for Toronto after Jozy Altidore in 2019, Danny Koevermans in 2012 and Dwayne De Rosario in 2010.”

So that will be next year when MLS moves to Apple TV.

Day breaks with ambient temps & grey skies all day. A chance of rain but not much if any.

    A good fall day.

It won't be a summer night tonight but it should be great weather to play in.

Is that 100% certain? I heard that some matches will still be shown by traditional over the air broadcasters. The problem with streaming services is you need to subscribe to multiple services if you want to watch multiple leagues. I.e. Fubo for premier league, DAZN for Champions League and Apple TV for MLS. This can get pricey.

Nice post. I’m looking forward to it. One of those relatively rare MLS regular season nights when a scarf might actually be necessary!

Not signed yet but the word if that there's a linear deal to come with ESPN leading the way.

Wtf is going on with Oso I thought he was closer to coming back than MAK. Okello had some decent moments against the Gals but starting is a big leap which makes me think Kaye is going to get at least 30 mins today

Mavinga and O'Neill seem to struggle every time they start a game together though they've looked ok with SON coming in off the bench so hopefully they'll be fine today?

Wow holy shit this is gonna be a fun game. More goals in it.

And I agree, a very early STFU to Steven Caldwell. For VAR, it does not matter if it's the 3rd or 93rd minute of the game, or somewhere in between. VAR is not "hasty" because they ask the ref to have a look early in the game. And Caldwell's comments about Akinola's behaviour before the penalty were also invalid. He mentioned factors that simply should not matter when calling the foul.

Crazy to think what this season could have been if we had the three Italians and Lareya playing the whole season for us.
