Plus I am sure he still has value in Europe.
I really hope Jimenez goes nowhere until at least two new strikers are brought in. He knows how to play. He just needs some confidence. I'm sure he could easily be sent to Miami to link up with Pozuelo again and score 15 goals a season.

Maybe they have some big name lined up, but I'd rather not put all our eggs in one basket and then only have Akinola as a backup.

Singh has historically been very careful with his words. If he said it, I suspect there is some truth there.

Yeah - not sure if "expect" was the actual word used, or if the other poster was just paraphrasing.

Am I cynical for thinking the buyout should be used on Akinola instead? He’s not good.

    There, I said it.

Vancouver wanted him earlier so maybe there's a low allocation $$$ trade to be had.

Akinola's cap hit is also significantly lower (I think ~300k, vs. $1-1.2M for Jimenez depending on what his transfer fee was).

Yeah, but that spot could be used on someone else (who is actually productive).

Edit: You’re probably right though regarding the cap hit. JJ takes up more space. I think it’s crazy to have to in-do this move for a useful player so early on.

It’s like we’re trying to help all these other teams succeed at our own expense dumping assets because of our inability to be flexible.

Yeah I can see him fetching a decent package in the league.

Teams that play with a 10 will want him

Apparently MLS is looking at a 4th DP for the coming season. Would be massive for us. New DP striker and Midfielder!

Could definitely be huge. Gotta think teams like Dallas, Vancouver, San Jose and Montreal would do everything in their power to block this.

I'd prefer they bump up the max TAM salary to like $2-$2.5M and increase the amount of GAM each team gets by like $3 or $4M rather than just adding an extra DP slot. But if there is an additional DP slot, time to pull up a list of free agents on world cup teams....

    could be both!

lots of new money coming into the league.

this would be huge for us, could add a DP CM and ST...

TAM will not be increased. MLS agreement with the players union is to gradually phase out TAM. Next CBA players will insist on it being gone in favour of GAM.

By TAM salary I meant the max targeted allocation money amount, which is currently $1.6M. Basically I think they should increase the max salary a player can earn before they have to become a DP.

Apparently Gareth Lagerway’s contract status with Seattle is “up in the air”. Manning and Lagerway overlapped with each other at RSL. If we opt to bring in a GM to work with Bradley that’s my number one target. Maybe he can be interested in putting the final touches on a roster, including a final DP spot with a bottomless pile of cash.

They've been saying he is going to Atlanta and taking his whole crew with him for a while now.

I would take him here in a heartbeat though.

Higuain is out of contract and retiring. Pozuelo is out of contract. Pizarro is currently on loan to Liga MX and is expected to be sold in the off season through a buy option

i think busquets is going there. i also think that's a poor use of a DP spot.

Fantastic player however there is a lot of mileage on him, could end up being a Frings 2.0.

Frings was great for us when he was healthy... The challenge was his long-term injury.,

I LOVE the idea of Kroos. Would take us to the next level.

At his best in MLS, I found he was still too slow. Great player in his day.

Not opposed to Kroos. But these signings should be considered carefully. Given the hatchet-job they did signing an injured Kaye, I’d question management’s ability to identify a still-capable player in their 30’s vs. a broken down golf cart.

we need a younger player who can anchor the team for the next 4 years as the 3rd DP

If they add a 4th DP then we should go for a good aged anchor (25 to 28) and a solid DP CF.

And one of the free agent MLS GKs that are out there this off season.
