Doneil is a decent defender for MLS level and very good in the air. I don't see him as any better than what we've already got, he's just depth and experience. But we need that right now.
SOmeone pointed out he hasn't had a league red card in nine years, or something, so the rashness may be gone.

Per a club spokesperson: “Doneil Henry was simply in Toronto and looking to train. He was welcomed to train with TFC. There's nothing more than that.”
Maybe.
Or...
IIRC, do you mean this to be in the same sense they 'allowed or invited'...
unbeknownst to the public/us for a while at least at that time..
Dom Dwyer to 'train' with TFC...
until he was the newest member of TFC?
<EDIT>
BTW...
In this case...
Doneil Henry - Dom Dwyer...
Apples & Oranges!

^ Seba kinda also?
Sure - that seemed like a bit of coaching direction for him to go and be physical until he gets a card and then he was getting pulled.
He's only had one red card for team Canada. Whether it's because the managers pull him early or he understands where to draw the line, he's only had three red cards in his career (two of which were for second yellows). Given he's only had one red card (for club or country) since 2013, I wouldn't call him a red card liability.

Impressions are important. I have them too.
As OtD suggests, there has to be a reason why he is sent wandering; a nomad.
Still, IIUC, the hard data does not entirely or necessarily support your view.
Yes, it seems in his early years, like at TFC he had many Yellows but only ever a couple of or three Reds in his career.
Without any South Korea data, he has had in the ensuing years about the same total of Yellows since those seasons and no additional Reds?
Seems he may have curtailed his 'habits' which in turn may warrant a re-assessment of your impression due to hard-stats.
Even if he has been subbed as a yellow liability, par for course; there is the ability for now for 5 subs.
He may be worth the further consideration as a temporary or depth solution. The rest of this season and optional next; if allowed.
As mentioned by Portu he is not 'the starter on a contender' but maybe he can be 'a starter or the sub for now that helps us to contend'.
On the topic of older guys that got big money on the back of their breakout WC performance: I agree its not that common. But it does happen
The big breakout older guy in 2018 was Takashi Inui, who was 30. He went from Eibar to Betis (I am not totally sure of the exact timing) but I remember he went on a free, and there was lots of oohing and ahhing about him as the great hidden gem available on a free that summer.
I can make the case that Insigne (and Bernardeschi) are older players converted Euro success into big incremental free agent dollars. Same for Spinnazola btw, depending on what happens with him.

^^BTW does anyone know if Latif Blessing is accompanying him?
TI played in the B. Think he may even have helped promote his team into it.
Not sure about later.
Believe Betis was a bust. Wandered. Bounced back? Maybe?
Yes that case can be made.
Yet, Lorenziello and Fede won the Euros and performed.
Although, not much so regarding the WC22.
Sorry, Oso? Yes, he has helped the NT qualify for WC22.
Yes, everything is relative.
Still, he really hasn't won or been a part of wining something honestly comparable.
Are you suggesting Oso / CMNT are gonna win the WC?
I do hope Canada exceeds expectations.
A word of sincere advise. As I am being told about TFC for now... you may want to manage them.
The odds may not be in our favour...
IIUC, latest FIFA Men's World Rankings of Group F'ooked... Belgium#2, Croatia#15, Moracco#21, Canada#43?

Hope so.
Will not mind at all being completely wrong on this.
Already exceeded expectations?
For me, no. I expected qualifying. At the WC, I expect goals. I expect at least a win.
And if a tie or win follows or precedes, then they have exceeded my expectations.
We have stumbled in rank after soaring from previous times.
We are underdogs in several ways. Many odds are against us.
Not a bad position to be in.
Where has it been confirmed that a 1-1-1 advances us?
For me...
Morocco should be the win. Internally, currently in shambles; hopefully continues. Fingers&Toes Crossed for an implosion.
Belgium is the tie or unexpected win. Similar to France. If they play with 'the sun(win) in their eyes', they might be had; the draw or win.
Croatia? They are the fighters, for their lives, tenacious; every game. For simplicity, they will 'Italy' Canada; our loss.
I hope Davies shines.
Have a wonderful time, stay cool and safe, enjoy the experience and the Machbus(Machboos).

I think Oso's contract situation is interesting given the setup. That’s all I am saying.
We all know, talking soccer, that he is a nice TAM player. We can argue more than a million, a million a year, how much term? That's what he is. He is not a DP.
My theory is this. We are underdogs. If we lose to Belgium and Croatia.. OK. But if Canada don’t just lose those first two games, interest in this is going to explode. Like, EXPLODE. Total supernova. Beyond Raps 2019, beyond anything since Canada Russia 1972.
If Oso has a big role in that, all the valuation rules may go out the window. I think he just might, Oso is a gamer. His very best moments were in CCL. Away at Mexico. Against the US.
A lot of ifs in there, but that is the entirety of my speculation. I dream about finding out if I am right.

Oso leaving for somewhere in Europe I would be fine with. It would be fun to see him come back up here for a Leagues Cup match with a LigaMx team - that would be understandable.
Oso leaving for within MLS would be heartbreaking - but I'm with ensco, I don't see him getting DP wages anywhere. Max Tam, sure. MLSE would give him max Tam & Oso would stay.
I think its Europe/LigaMx or us.
^ I wouldn’t rule out the whitecaps overpaying. They overpaid Cavallini. They need to sell tickets. It would be viewed as a way to get attention and one-up us as their Canadian rival.
