Am I crazy for thinking that playoffs may be back in reach with Richie on board?

I'm in a Canadian soccer Discord channel... The sentiment of this move is:
- Now JMR won't get minutes
- Richie should have stayed in the prem
- Richie should have gone somewhere else in Europe
- Why are we making this move when we have nothing to play for
Give me a break. We're still 6 points out of a playoff spot. Richie walks into the starting lineup and already knows how to play with half our starting lineup. It gets him guaranteed minutes before the WC and can set him up for a new loan to Europe in January.
Seems like a perfect arrangement for everyone, assuming the price on the allocation order isn't too crazy.
EDIT: Richie will be arriving in Toronto tonight... chances he starts on Saturday?

Can confirm Steve’s report. Richie Laryea will be arriving in Toronto tonight
This just rubs me the wrong way.
You “confirm” the other guys report. No Singh, he confirms his own report. You can say you’ve heard similar things, have heard he’s arriving tonight, or whatever, but you don’t “confirm” his work, especially since he’s more senior and writing for a bigger outlet. Like, come on.

There goes all the GAM we had. Legit think our scouting is just the Italian and Canadian national teams Transfermarkt pages.
This better be atleast an 18 month loan or this is another issue of being lazy and not wanting to do any actual scouting. Obviously Richie is very good, but there is better use of resources out there.

The overlap with Bernardeschi will be amazing
The sketchy thing here is, how do we get him back next year? Can we get him back next year?
World Cup performances, allocation orders, etc, etc, all make this complicated.
Explains the Shaff for GAM loan deal. Does anyone miss Shaff now?

It's pretty standard language. Here's a couple similar tweets from the MLB trade deadline earlier this week

I do prefer when reporters say "My sources can confirm X as reported by Y".
Cinci are supposedly signing Miazga from the Allocation list today too. They are #1. The allocation order dancing will be fun lol
I'd like to see the structure of this loan before I get too excited. If it's just for the rest of the season for sure it helps, but if only for a few months then we're back to nobody at RB come winter.
Laryea has already changed his twitter location to "Toronto," lol.

When we had Tony Gallacher on loan it was just for 6 months. Can't remember if there was a buy option.
If they don’t buy him, or at least get a 18 month loan, it’s a total waste of resources.
Secret backdoor contract extension confirmed.

Well, I’m happy.
Richie’s a great player at the MLS level and he was being wasted at Forest, where he did not get a fair sniff, even by admission of a number of their hardcore fans. Every time he came on his all of five appearances, he created at least one goal scoring chance. Maybe he couldn’t keep up with the tactical side there; I saw some reports that he was being pulled out of position easily when isolated, which is not uncommon in a 3-4-3.
But it was clear he was not signed by Cooper, a career lower league player who I had skepticism would take well to a 27-year-old Canadian MLS vet, when he his entire rep was as a youth coach at Liverpool. He is a smart tactical coach but, like the dude we have now, makes his player preferences very clear.
Given it's going to cost a bunch of GAM to move up the Allocation Order, I'm going to assume this is an 18-24 month loan rather than just 6 months through the end of the year. NF won't want him for the entire season in the EPL at least (so at minimum it's 12 months),but I'd hope we'd keep him through the end of 2023 (rather than leaving June 30 next year)

Feel a bit bad for Richie, he took a lower salary to head to Europe (since we apparently offered a deal to make him the highest paid fullback in MLS), only to wind up back here six months later on that lower salary he took.
