    Rumours heating up.... https://www.transfermarkt.com/toront...ew/news/404641

28, I think although it says he is Uruguayan, has Italian citizenship as well and wants out of Russia. Come as a TAM with no transfer fee.... looks like it would be good business. Anyone see him play?

    EDIT - found this

That is a big get for us - I'd love it tbh, while it's taking advantage of some turmoil in Russia, getting a TAM left back that's in his prime and wants to be in MLS that's world cup class is good.

Laxalt and Insigne would be a very dangerous tandem down the lefthand side. I would 200% prefer him to Criscito.

Lines up better with our contention window, is younger, still has ties to Italy to help him settle, I can't see how this isn't better.

Oh, wait, what if we got both on TAM deals with all that extra xAM we have?

Article said he would drop his salary demands to come to MLS. Could be a lower TAM hit then. Either way he would be a half season budget charge now and we have expiring TAM deals this off season he could slide into.

Waking the Red had an analysis the other day suggesting we have about $2.8M free, so this guy should be affordable.

Add a right wing back, a DM and we’ll be rounding into something.

This rumour is a pleasant surprise. I remember him from the World Cup. I think he was at Genoa before the move to Milan.

Given the reflection on the shades, I'd wager that's Toronto

It's tagged as Paris in the bottom corner.

But as RealG noted, that's definitely Toronto. The license plates on the car in front are small white rectangles. Europe has those long thin rectangular ones.

(I can't believe I'm analyzing reflections of license plates in glasses on a Friday night lol. 20 year old me would roll his eyes)

Where's roller blade guy when you need him? He should case Mavinga's joint. (That's a joke, don't anybody ever do that.)

Laxalt would be a great addition to any side in MLS , but it’s late May if the fine gentlemen running TFC have not finalized the players coming in July by now then this organization is more dysfunctional then I ever imagined.

    ???

you realize many of these players are not out of contract yet or are fielding calls from many teams, right?

Is there a term greater than "armchair GM" that I can assign here?

"We've carried less roster spots because we were going to add three players (including Insigne) during the summer. That's always been our plan," said Manning. "Just the way the roster (salary) cap is coming together, we actually may be able to add a fourth."

Quote from Manning in Davidson's latest

Plus he's coming from a Russian League team. The complications are potentially endless.
Do we even know if he's out of contract or is this a release because
of sanctions or at his request due to Ukraine?

Russian teams must be in firesale
mode with respect to foreign players right now.

That 4th player needs to be a midfielder.

Yeah DM is absolute, 100% must need top target this window. A good dm would change so much on both ends of the field

Also of note in that article is that the current plan is to have Insigne debut on July 9th at BMO.

Anyone actually seen Laxalt play? He’s never managed an average rating above 7 in a decade and multiple leagues.

also his stats very much suggest a fullback, not a wingback.

    https://www.67hailhail.com/news/dieg...-celtic-spell/

Here's a review of Laxalt's time with Celtic. Apparently he started well and played very aggressively and impressed. However as the season went on he lost his starting position and seemed positionally unaware. However all of Celtic looked poor that season, so it's hard to know how much is on him.

Seems to me they got the Insigne deal worked out when he was still on contract with Naples??? I will reiterate , if this managerial staff has not sorted out the July additions by now then God help us

They could not confirm Insigne until a certain date - which they did.

Same goes with the next group. Unless these players are within 6 months of their deals ending, there can be no public announcement.

He isn't the guy we need, but he is definitely a guy we could use.
