LAFC close to acquiring goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau from Vancouver Whitecaps, sources say. If completed, trade would probably involve allocation money only. Crépeau hasn't been in Vancouver camp. LAFC has only one keeper on roster at moment (Tomás Romero, age 21

TFC should of been all over that. Depending on the cost, of course.

I don’t get it. Why would Vancouver want to trade their goalie to a competing team? Makes zero sense to me.

They might want to start pushing through Hasal who is younger and proved capable in a prior season when Crepeau was out injured.

It’s still a gutsy move though.

So in the biggest year ever for Canadian soccer, that is like the fifth Canadian MNT player to move in the last 4 months, and we have gone down one.

But we spent $75M. So that's good.

I'm not sure the point here. I would reckon that letting Richie go to Europe, which is where he wanted to go, is a positive. We're also about to re-sign Akinola and let a veteran of ours go because of the ascension of two homegrown players.

btw, we've signed 5 canadian players and added a canadian icon to our coaching staff in the past 3 weeks (2 in draft, 2 promoted academy, macnaughton from pacific apparently done).

Has the club announced the Delgado move?

In other news, Oso & M. Bradley also gave interviews today.

The issue has been that those moving have been in positions where we're ostensibly pretty solid, or at least not desperate.

That's why I still think it's either Vitoria or Cavallini that they're pursuing as the national team member. Cavallini is the odd man out in Vancouver and Vitoria's deal is up in summer.

Could be referring to Borjan, of course.

I get all that. I support Laryea leaving, and would feel OK if Oso found a good home.

But I think we should have done Johnston, I found that incredibly frustrating. We could have been in on MAK last August (I get it, with Bradley and Pozuelo and Oso here he makes less sense, but I bet one of those is leaving soon) and frankly Crepeau makes more sense to me than Borjan, much younger, and proven in MLS.

If a quality, younger CMNT player is in MLS, this year of all years, I would like them here, and sure, they are expensive.

Cavallini has fallen through the floor in terms of capability - reclaiming projects should not be that expensive.

WHO? (Quick Google check, sees he played all of 13 games in 2013-2014). I'm pretty impressed that you found that.

MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto

Plus he becomes the answer to some odd ball trivia question about playing for all three Canadian teams. Not sure who was first…Dunfield maybe?

Chatter out there is this move was for personal reasons. So I don’t know if we would have been a fit.

Interesting. Great share. But according to some of those metrics me thinks the wrong team picked him up.
Seems a better fit for the rebooted Man U.

    I get that too.

Like I said, Johnston is the one that got away, I am having trouble getting past that one, especially if we really are moving Lawrence.

A very apt characterization. Assistant Coach under Schmetzer; not bad.
Early on I believed Rose might have joined TFC as depth when his contract wasn't renewed; A Bridge Too Far.
Regardless, a great connect to 'unofficially' soundboard off of by his father-in-law or brother-in-law, given Sounders perennial success and Western Conference presence.

I see it as a Succession episode. It's going to be an interesting Christmas dinner in a couple of years when Bob is moving upstairs and considering who the manager should be..

I think we share the same intuition.
In keeping with MLSE experience... I envision a TML President Brendan Shanahan with Special Advisor/s Cliff Fletcher-Lou Lamoriello scenario...

Doneil Henry on trial as a camp invitee with Real Salt Lake. Surprising that he couldn't get a guaranteed MLS contract.

A lot of the recent GAM trades show some of the faults with the current system. Teams can only get $1M in GAM for selling a player abroad, whereas they can get $2M for trading a player in MLS. It locks in some of these players to MLS that have values of $1M-$5M, since the teams have no incentive to sell them abroad.
