It could definitely help. Bringing in an experienced fullback would also be a good use of some of that.

With all this imaginary money is it possible that we trade Jozy to New England along with GAM/TAM and get a piece back from NE ?

I think it would make more sense to just send that GAM to the Revs for someone like Brandon Bye. Jozy appeals to the Revs because they get him as a TAM player instead of a DP after he gets bought out.

It's mostly that until we know absolutely for sure how much Salcedo is making, we can't say if he can be bought down or not.

Yea that's true. Just given the links to the amount of players from overseas you'd think they'd be holding on to them.

Plus the gaps on the roster that need filling

Good point about the fullback...automatically I thought of the DP thing but you are right, still more areas to fill out in the roster that are not typical DP spots.

If they are giving up international spots, hopefully this means more domestics, someone like Adekugbe, can be persuaded to come home.

I'd hazard a guess their transfer net (all time outgoing transfer fees - all time incoming transfer fee) is a lot healthier than ours, even more so if you factored in wages - I doubt it'd even be particularly close if you did that

Great question. Let's bounce it off noxx98.
If I understand correctly, not all allocation money is the same, and we can possibly read between the lines here and predict what is about to come.

I believe acquiring all this extra GAM does not help with potentially buying down Salcedo's number. If Salcedo is switched to a TAM player, then only TAM can be used to reduce his cap hit (and $1 million of TAM is obligatory). Where GAM proves useful is in reducing the cap hit of a DP below the default $612,500.

Conclusion - TFC must have a DP in the crosshairs in order to have wanted all this GAM and to part with an int'l roster slot. noxx98, what say you?

How does paying down a DP with GAM even work. A DP already has a budget charge of $612K. So if you did use GAM to get a DP's cap hit below the $612K would the player still be considered a DP?

They're still a DP, it just lowers the budget charge down below $612k. So if we apply $200k GAM against a DP, it makes their budget charge $412k.

    Looks something like...

    Nelson - Jimenez - Kerr
    Poz
    Oso - Bradley
    Shaff - Mavinga - Salcedo - JMR
    Westberg

JMR at RB is intriguing. Shaff at LB is something we have talked about for a couple years now.

Also, nothing in the world can convince me that Bob is gonna limit Michael's minutes in any meaningful way this season.

Yeah. You can buy down a DP number all the way to $150k. But it's just to fit under the cap. Whether you apply it to a DP or another player, any xAM used below 612,500 on any contract is just a matter of squeezing everyone in under the total salary cap.

For me, it's always been a 2FOR1 deal; at least for a couple of years.

I think he will reduce them if he doesn’t deserve the minutes he is getting. I also think he can still have a very strong presence on the field in the right system.

Do TFC have any international spots left? I wonder if the club may use MB's contacts at Roma (if he has any at this point) in an attempt to recruit right-back Davide Santon. His contract expires in June but there's been talk of a contract termination.

They could also use GAM to drop his 1.6 mil to under the max cap hit and then he’s neither a DP or a Tam player.

Let’s see how this goes … I would suspect that’s the case but let’s hope not.

Could really serve to derail BB’s credibility if things go poorly.

Spanish left back Damia Viader trialling, has come in at the 30 min. Whole sale changes, new lineup:

    Kadin Chung
    Shane O’Neill
    Lukas MacNaughton
    Damia Viader
    Luca Petrasso
    Noble Okello
    Ralph Priso
    Kosi Thompson
    Jordan Perruzza
    Ifunanyachi Achara

And 3m later, Austin evens the match, 1-1

Really pleased we monetized that allocation order spot. Having done that, I can’t see any way we would have been better off with Seba. You would need to believe we were one piece away, and that piece is Seba, to have wanted Seba instead.
