My feeling on Lawrence is similar to that of Delgado. It all depends what we get for him. I do like the player.

With our Dps am I correct in thinking Ayo can be our only U22 player?

If Salcedo is our 3rd DP and his salary is a max of $1.612M, we can still sign up to 3 U22s.

I can't see his wages being less than that though

Doesn’t one of your 3 DPs have to be an under 22 to be allowed to sign two others? I really don’t understand this rule.

Someone listed it a few pages ago but basically if one DP is on less than 1.612,5 million you get still all three spots.

    These rules are ridiculous.

    just looked it up

    U22 Initiative Roster Slots

    Number of Slots:

Each MLS team will have up to three U22 Initiative Slots that will each occupy one of the 20 existing Senior Roster Slots. The number of U22 Initiative Slots available to each team will be based on that team’s use of its third Designated Player slot.

If a Club has a vacant third Designated Player slot, the Club will have available three U22 Initiative Slots.

If a Club elects to sign a third Designated Player, the number of U22 Initiative Slots would be impacted in the following way:

    • If the third Designated Player is a Young Designated Player, the club will have all three U22 Initiative Slots.
    • If the third Designated Player is age 24 or older, yet is at, or below, Maximum Targeted Allocation Money Amount ($1,612,500), the club will have all three U22 Initiative Slots.
    • If the third Designated Player is age 24 or older and is above Maximum Targeted Allocation Money Amount ($1,612,500), the club will have one U22 Initiative Slot.

These MLS rules seem so bush league. Charlotte FC's franchise fee was north of 300 million yet we have a budgetcap under 5 million

I know he's off the roster now, but apparently Inter Miami is interested in Gallardo

Since we’re throwing money around, we should offer $100 million for Phil Foden just to make a mockery of these MLS rules. He’d be great in one of these under 22 slots!

I would have said Miami is a good landing spot for Soteldo too (and I wouldn't rule that out yet, until this Salcedo thing is done, it isn't done).

The number of Venezuelans down there is in the hundreds of thousands.

Haha laughed at that part where he said he is doesn't want to continue with TFC. Like he had a choice. A lot of money tied up on a bench warmer. He obviously never impressed any of the coaches in practice and was just riding out his contract.

I hope we get some good news on incoming players soon, outside of the Insigne bubble this has all been very underwhelming. I get that this is cleaning up Ali's mess, but we gotta start getting stuff over the line. That part might be a bit harder than Bradley and Manning anticipated.

It's Ayo's birthday. Guess they waited until today to announce the contract to match up with it

Anyways, I am very frustrated by Ayo being a u-22 player.

On another note, does Lawrence leaving mean that Shaff is being shifted to LB?

The cleanup has been what we needed for most of the players that are out but yeah, we need new blood coming in....or we will be playing guys out of position and maybe out of the playoff contention by the time Insigne shows up.

Why is that frustrating? If we end up with 3 slots I can’t even see us using them all.

I wonder if TFC is stockpiling some of this GAM to make a move similar to this.

I have no problem with it. If he stays healthy then he is a somewhat known commodity and should be good for 7-12 goals. The alternative could be Gallardo #2.

Because we lost the ability to pay a decent sized transfer fee for a player from outside of the club and have them come in and help reinforce the roster. We already held Ayo's rights and just freed up nearly 600k in moving Delgado. I have zero issue with Ayo coming back and getting paid, I just think this is a waste of the slot. We have like 18 players under contract and this was a way to get another young, high potential guy in here.

But it saves actual cap space and we don't know how much he is getting so we don't know the GAM impact yet.

I’d have to imagine we can move Ayo out of a U22 spot and into a normal senior roster spot if the right move is available. Given some of the other rumours we’ve been looking at other U22 players in the international market.

I could be wrong, my wife says it happens a lot, but I think the max he can be paid and still considered a u-22 player is 612k. We basically just freed that up by trading Delgado and his 580k.

he is probs in the 800k range,so a savings of 600k,if gets back in form..10 to 12 goals he may be gone in a year to 16 mths

Is this the most active TFC off-season ever; roster wise?
Hell, I don't know anymore... Mission Impossible... these lineups will self destruct by the time you read this...
Maybe... with the expectation Salcedo is actually acquired...
    If Mavinga goes... Auro---Salcedo---O'Neill---Shaffelburg...
    If Mavinga stays... Auro---Salcedo---Mavinga---O'Neill...
    If Criscito comes... Auro/O'Neill...Salcedo---Criscito---Mavinga/Shaffelburg...
    ????????? I give up!
