Tend to agree. Give him $120k a year and make him the last man on the roster. No harm done.

petrasso just signed so there is really no need...should be plenty of options for him if hes willing to take much less than the 132 he made last year

Uhhhh.. A MLS homegrown or a TFC homegrown? This could be bad...

Dallas just signed Jesús Ferreira as a DP after being a homegrown player. If Akinola slots in as a U22 player he'll have to make less than $612k

He's a guy who knows his role comes in and does his job. I remember in the later years of his career here, he wasn't playing, got thrown into a CL game (against a Mexican team I believe) , and played really well. The only reason he left is I believe he wanted a shot at a bigger role (which didn't work out in RSL). At this point, he'd probably gladly return to TFC, wouldn't cost much, and would provide some veteran locker room leadership.
Ashtone was superb in CCL and scored a very memorable goal against America. I still remember the TFC bench just going completely nuts for him when this happened, they were so happy for him...

I was thinking 400k would be fair. The guy is coming off a torn ACL and hasn't proven before that to be overly durable. Giving him too much just seems like a big time gamble.

Aye. The way the article was written I was thinking it would be the highest HG contract as opposed to U22 or DP. Going that route I think Zardes was the only player prior to Ferreira going from HG to DP.

I had said a few pages back I wouldn't be surprised if he gets an U22 contract. We shall see.

Yeah the way it's worded is confusing... I think the max a player can earn on a homegrown contract is between $200k-$250k

for u22 initiative a homegrown who is on his second contract can earn up to 200k above the maximum salary budget charge

I think that Tashreeq Matthews link shows they have other plans for the u-22 spot.

Thanks. I guess it doesn't really matter what we pay him if he's U22, since the gap hit is the same. But $800k just seems like a lot.

I know the season doesn't start for another six weeks, but this is too many players out and Shane O'Neill (Insigne eventually) in.

says a trade, wonder who we could get from them?

    * edit to say they expect it to be for GAM, not a player

Delgado has looked a little out of sorts for two seasons now. Move will probably be good for him, get him back to the consistently excellent number eight he's been for us for years.

I remember before he signed his much improved contract some discussion that he felt underappreciated here but I don't think that was ever the case. We all knew what a decent player he was.

People who pay attention like we all do here know Marky is good. It is the casuals on Twitter who just think of Delgado as being the guy who missed that chance in the CCL.

I loved Marky. Makes me sad. Amazing fitness level and did not get caught out of position very often. He will thrive in that market, playing for Vanney.

    Making room for MAK.

I will also accept Eustaquio if MAK cannot be sprung loose.

If that’s the plan dynamite this season right now.

My hope would be, we add someone like the mid we were linked with from São Paolo earlier in the window.

I don’t think management is crazy. Playing Bradley as a starter ever week can’t be the plan

Obviously some could see this as more playing time for Okello or Priso (when is he due back anyway?), but it was always kind of naive to think that Bob Bradley was coming in with the intention to greatly reduce Michael's minutes.

Yeah. I am stubborn/boring that way.

I really thought I was on to something before the Acosta deal. Could still happen if Bassett isn't loaned out. They were really overloaded in MF, and still kind of are. They signed a 20 year old Brazilian, a couple of weeks ago, on a big deal. Fee of over $1M. Guy named Max. Plus they have Price and Barrios.

I actually thought Fraser might move for Delgado as part of this grand theory of the universe…

Seriously, I do think someone significant is coming into that spot. Could be someone from BB's European network. Could be a U 22 player like that rumour from Sweden. And it could, still, be MAK..

Bradley, Osorio, Pozuelo is now set in stone for the midfield. Priso and Okello the only back-ups. There needs to be another signing coming in to replace Delgado for this to make sense.

Duuno if you've seen but he'll cost 9m euros for anyone to get him out of his current club.
