This is probably the big draw right here. Also, Michael likes it here and his son thinks he's Canadian. I could see Bob wanting to spend time watching his Grandkids grow up while teaching his son the ropes of coaching. I'm willing to give Michael a shot at assistant. I mean, Vanney made a pretty good player-to-coach transition.

MB has a very high Soccer IC and communicates so well, I would not be surprised if the transition is already underway.

The bigger question is now that Curtis is gone, do we take stock of what we have and begin a re-build, it doesn’t have to be long but i think a reset next year might not be a bad idea. Don’t rush on a DP, be thoughtful of where we are going and what we want.

With Curtis gone i could tolerate it… play the kids, see what you really have, decide how you want to play, get rid of the one dimensional veteran role players, find some quality TAMs first for the defense D and bring some pride back in the club.

The Mexican media is saying that Cruz Azul striker/winger Jonathan Rodriguez has an offer from an MLS team. He could make a lot of sense for TFC.

Also he has lived with the nepotism thing forever, everyone thought he got his place on the Metrostars and then USMNT roles because he was the manager's son.

Also lots of players with his pedigree walk out of the dressing room and into the manager's office. It's a path. It's not weird.

I think Michael Bradley lives by the credo, be prepared: “When you are the anvil, bear it. When you are the hammer, strike.”
Your points were valid enough to put fear into THIS handsome guy.

Greg Vanney put in his time after he stopped playing.
He spent a good 6 years learning the ropes in the academy system and being an assistant before actually getting a Manager role at TFC.

MB4 will be a great manager one day - but not now. That would be a dumb, short-sighted move on his part and the clubs.

and TBH - having MB4 in any type of assistant coaching role while his dad is the sporting director or whatever it the role is, would be bad news for whomever is the manager. He'd have two guys potentially working against him at all times.

I think the only way it works is if MB4 is assistant to Bob Bradly and then hire a GM who is only there to serve Bob and do the legwork/work the phones for him as he's managing.

it's a total dictatorship - but I feel like that is what Daddy Bradley wants.

I love Bradley. Great servant to the club, the cup run, etc, etc, etc…

But it’s not our fucking problem if Michael Bradley wants to manage after he’s done playing! And it’s also not our problem if Bob Bradley wants some sort of family project. This isn’t what you resort to as the highest spending club in the league in a major market.

Provide a good reference and tell them to take this shit elsewhere if that’s what they want! Nobody in their right mind would resort to something that looks this nepotistic in a corporate setting. Even if they run things cleanly, the appearance of it is bad and will drive many individuals away.

Bob can be the coach / manager, but that’s it!

    Why?

First it's not exactly a standard corporate setting. Second, this is how family businesses (and really just businesses - see law firms & certain medical specialists still today) were run for hundreds of years before soulless big boxes ruined everything.

As long as everyone is doing their jobs properly and are successful rather than just being in a certain position because of relations then why would this matter to anyone? If anything it offers more stability than revolving door 'corporate' structures like us during our first 7 years or how Crazy Joey runs the Club Foot. It's all about performance and accountability and as long as it's being run with those things in mind then none of this should matter.

That being said I would still like MB to go get his badges and at least spend some time at Herenveen, Roma, or somewhere abroad at least in the offseason to pick up a few things and some different ideas while serving as an assistant for a few years before becoming manager. This is also something we have no idea if he even wants so it's just pointless speculation now anyway.

Yes its tricky for Bob to come in with Michael here, whether as a player, coach or whatever. But we need a manager of Bob's heft, skill and reputation. He will need control - and a plan for MB. I have no issue with the plan for MB to move to coaching, he certainly has some of the attributes (leadership, game knowledge, media training, thick hide).

MB's ankle injury in the final two years ago was very serious, and despite his apparent full recovery he has clearly lost mobility. I wouldn't be shocked if he retired. A bit surprised. But not shocked.

This sounds like what he would want to do. And he knows Vanney did France, for example.

And you could say “that’s their fault for not looking” but the flip side is in a world where people only have so much time, we focus on alternatives they think will be productive and eliminating a few easy options based on past experiences is the norm.

You’re fighting the tide trying something like this. And we certainly don’t have to be this desperate.

Who do you think is making the decisions on the options now Ali is gone?

    Manning?
Bob will have slyly given his wants to Manning already?

Does anyone know if Michael Bradley has already been doing his coaching badges? I wouldn't be surprised if he has. Chelsea supported Frank Lampard in doing his, although Frank is maybe the worst example of a player thinking he can step into a coaching role with no experience. But maybe the Norwich example has tainted my view of him beyond the already bad view I had of him before it happened.

One thing I don't think we should underestimate is that Michael Bradley absolutely loves the city and TFC. It's really difficult these days to get coaches with loyalty. I think that's almost a necessity for the TFC job. I think our fanbase, more than most, really values people who are loyal to the club.

DeLeon won't be re-signed, he'll be off to the USA where his anti-vaxx stance won't cause border issues all of the time, especially with the change in rules come January.

Endoh hasn't been used that much. While he probably has a future in the game somewhere, he doesn't really fill a big need at TFC.

Osorio has to have his option taken. The others will depend on how Bradley Sr (or whatever other coach) wants to build the team.

I'd really like Fraser to be back. The other non-free agent players aren't expensive, but can their spots be taken up by someone better?

Osorio starting to get into overpaid territory. I wouldn't be very upset if his option was declined. You could definitely do better with almost $900K than what he brings but he is a lifer so whatever.

Fraser is an interesting case. Maybe at CB. I would bring back Achara & Akinola for sure but for me, they're the only 'for sures' on that list.

I doubt Fraser would want to come back and risk sitting behind the younger Okello and Priso.

I didn't follow him much during his loan but I know the Crew used him at CB. If that's a thing then he could have a path otherwise I still say he is too slow to be CM in MLS. He is slower now than Bradley and he won't be getting any faster.

Probably will try to get a head coaching job somewhere...23 points in 23 games is not bad after getting 5 in the first 11

He doesn’t have to look very far either. York United have a coaching vacancy.

I never understood why they went through the process of removing the interim tag from him. On 4 July, he was named interim coach for Toronto, following the firing of Armas. On 7 July, in his debut as head coach, Toronto defeated the the Revs by a score of 3–2. On 9 August, he was officially named the head coach for the remainder of the season, removing the interim title. It just never made any sense to me, he was going to have to really do something big to return in 2022.

Just another example of a botched process / bad messaging by Curtis. Even when they did the right thing, they didn’t know how to explain it.

I like the idea of bringing back Fraser and trying him at CB. He is cheap and TFC need all the help we can get at CB. Might as well throw a few options in that position and see what sticks.

Curtis was relieved of his duties in June. It just wasn't announced until yesterday.

I hope MLSE is learning something about the dysfunctionality of these President/GM setups and this gets resolved now.

At least until SSH renewals are done, anyway....

I could see Seba getting $750K-1M. He puts fannies in the seats in a way that almost no one else would. The team badly needs that from a marketing POV. Not that I agree with it from a football POV.

But it probably means Soteldo and one of Oso or Poz is moving on. All of which are probably happening anyway.
