On behalf of the club, Happy New Year! As we work to restore Toronto FC as a championship contender, today is a historic and exciting day. As you have no doubt heard through media reports over the past several weeks, we are very pleased to officially announce to you today the signing of Italian International Lorenzo Insigne as a Toronto FC player. Lorenzo will join TFC on July 1 at the conclusion of the Italian Serie A season.
Lorenzo is a world-class attacking player in the prime of his career. He is a European champion with Italy and has performed on the biggest stages during his club career as captain of Napoli. Lorenzo has the talent to change games. He plays the game with joy and passion and I just know you are going to love watching him as a member of our team as much as he will enjoy the support at BMO Field and in our community.
We are working tirelessly this off-season to return TFC to championship form for our city, fans and supporters. With Bob Bradley at the helm, and the addition of a world-class player like Lorenzo Insigne, we are confident that 2022 will be one of the most exciting seasons in club history.
