IT appears we have lost Julian Dun to HamKam of Norway, on a two year deal

Oop! Beat me to it, Phil.

    John Molinaro take is ridiculous.

Is there any reporting on length of Insigne deal? That’s a win now signing and dangerous if any longer than 2 years imo.

I would guess we are looking at a three year deal. He probably wants 4 or 5.

Worth it if there is no transfer fee...

Had a gut feeling from the day the Insigne rumour was floated out that it would come to fruition. Everything lines up too well. New coach with pedigree, coming off a terrible season, Manning now has his job on the line. All of this points to a marquee signing to give the club some breathing room. And there really isn't a better option in terms of selling tickets/performance on field/demographic fit than Insigne. I mean seriously, if we're talking guy who gets people in Toronto talking about the team again and is actually realistic (not gonna be someone in their prime unfortunately) this is perfect.

Now, if we could have Insigne, Pozuleo, and Kramaric on the field together all at once I think that would be a sight to behold and TFC would set the benchmark yet again for best DP trio in the league (they set it the 1st time when it was Bradley, Gio, and Altidore on the field together. Nobody had seen anything like that at that point.) I think that's a pipe dream though. Get Insigne in here, get a DP top 5 CB in the league and we've got the ball rolling again folks.

Let us dream...Insigne, Pozuelo, and Kramaric PLUS 2 top 5 MLS CBs, implying of course some more shedding!

If its a choice of getting him in the winter vs summer then you better damn pay for the transfer fee and get him now. It's not going to be much anyway considering his contract is expiring.

Give Napoli a present to make them and the agents happy, it's going to help you a few years down the line when we need to go shopping again.

yeah okello didn't stand out playing in the 2nd bottom team in MLS, hard to see what european clubs are gonna take him.

maybe norwegian league or something which is at best a sideways move

No doubt Munich will be calling. Too bad it will be 1860 and not Bayern.

That was an incredibly stupid thing for him to post. How self-entitled.

    Still... looks like he's going.

Okello did a season on loan over there, so he might have contacts. But to my memory he only started about half the possible games on loan.

Anyone understand what his response was supposed to mean?

Also, not to lessen the achievement or anything, but Hamar is a town of 31,000 with a 7,600 capacity stadium. It's not like he's moving to Benfica.

    Good one

If he wants to go, no big loss.
MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto

he's going because he can't get a game at TFC.

    it's a step down.

Every player at that level of excellence (and frankly Julian Dunn right now is better then 99% of the people in Canada his age who are playing, so ya, compared to most people, he's an excellent athlete) is an alpha male who thinks if they just (insert verb here) they would be at a big club in Europe.

This is the nature of the players we discuss.

I take anything they say about a lack of success with a grain of salt.

But figure it must be a salary bump, but I have no concept of salaries once you get out of the big boys? When it comes to Denmark, Norway etc where do they stack up?

Remember The Man, The Legend, The Goal 5-12-07 and All That #9 Left On The Pitch, Thanks For The Memories !!!

I am 30 now so maybe I am just behind in the lingo department but Okello saying "No kiaaaap" or whatever sounds a lot like "no cap" which roughly means "you aren't lying".

probably not, considering he's joining a newly promoted team.

he was on 85K USD in 2021,

Another reminder of how knowing English salaries skews perspectives. There are guys in the National League making more than most of the Norwegian First Division.

    Re: Akinola

Maybe we're just interpreting this too negatively? I mean, all these guys view moving to Europe (no matter where in Europe) as a step-up from MLS (rightly or wrongly), so maybe Ayo just meant 'hey, congrats, you're the first of us to move to Europe,' but not in a 'Toronto sucks' way.

But I have no idea what Noble meant.

I struggle to believe anyone can blame our kids for wanting to get out of here. We don’t develop them and we don’t play them. We consistently pass them over for MLS vets and injured or fading DPs. The best thing for all these guys - bar maybe Priso - is to leave this club. If I was their agent I don’t know under what pretenses I’d advise them to stay.
