“We’ve seen Toronto play in the front foot this year, but they never seem to score, they never seem to win games”. Brutal.

Gonzalez lets Martinez drift behind him. Terrible positioning.

I see something in Okello and JMR. I just can't see it with Nelson.

Morrow also has a habit of playing his teammates under pressure, probably shouldn’t have used the keeper there although Westberg still had enough time to deal with it
I really like Westberg and love his distribution, but he has made that kind of move on many occasions - it’s always wrong and he has been caught at least once before.

Agree. I never have. Pace and skill but doesn’t seem to be able to apply it within a structure.

I don’t recall but it’s a fair assessment. Doing a cruyff turn on your goal line is never the answer. He had enough room to put his foot though it.

Totally agree. Bono with the 3rd-worst save percentage in the league this season, but one of the higher GK salaries.

Westberg really seems to have lost his sharpness. I seem to remember a similar gaffe earlier this year. TFC might have had a decent reason not to play him much this year. Despite all of Bono's problem, our record with Westberg has actually been worse this season.

Dunn could have gotten a yellow earlier. He seems to suffer from a malaise I've seen from many young Cdn players on TFC: that they somehow feel they have to act cool on the field. Dunn had a step on the Atlanta player, but somehow felt that jogging and sliding would be enough.

Also, what happened to Poz? He just looks so average right now.

I can’t remember the game but I remember thinking before that he was going to get caught on one of those. And then he did. To be fair to him it’s only one. Well, two…

Dude looks depressed, has for a while. Let’s hope if we make the changes rumoured he snaps out of it and starts playing the way he did before 2021.

Nelson always seems to be behind the play defensively and sprinting to catch up.

He's looked pretty good today. He looked pretty good last game.

I dunno... he looked confused a couple of seasons ago when they played him inside but he looks at least reasonable wide.

Jozy just refuses to play any role except running off the back shoulder. Watch him. He rarely moves into space to support or to help retain possession. He drifts between the two centre halfs waiting for a chance to break the offside.

I'm sure it's where he's most dangerous but it makes him pretty limiting.

Fair enough. You are right that we shouldn’t be too harsh.

Saw him a couple of times linking up dropping in deep at the start of an attack but he needs quick ball to be good & Okello & Deleon & Poz just slow everything down.

A whole lot of out stretched arms and blaming teammates happening on the field.

Funny little thing I've noticed the last few weeks. The most "hey, nice try" sort of guy out there with his teammates is Jozy. Applauding the youngster's efforts.

Of note, we are getting possession because Atlanta knows our attack is poor & our defence worse.

I think there’s some of the old guard here that have reached the end of their road.

Okello looks good. He’s not just taking the first option but wheeling around to cut passes inside or play reverse balls.

I agree Pozuelo has often looked average the last few games. However watching a number of plays tonight, it's often tied to general problems with the team. Sometimes they look decent; sometimes they don't know where the hell to go or how to interact with each other. Watch how often everyone stops and stares at Pozuelo when he has the ball. Little movement; few options.

And yes it is time for Caldwell to STFU once more. What he calls the "modern game" has been the game for at least 30 years. You can't hack through people from the back to get to the ball, even if some of those fouls didn't get called in TFC's benefit the past few games.

    Amazing recovery by Nelson.

It is nice to see Jozy encouraging the guys. He used to be the worst offender for yelling and throwing his hands up in disgust.

Meh. We're playing okay. The problem with setting up to counter the other team's movement with a formation we don't normally play is that having strong support play and possession at ANY point is very difficult. So we're getting a lot of the ball but it's mostly between the midfield and box, very little danger.

Still, Atlanta look just as loose. They have better weapons and haven't fucked up yet but it's pretty even without the inevitable boneheaded gaffe.

Both he and Mullinho have encouraged both Nelson and JMR today. Good to see.

DeLeon and Justin Morrow look off the pace. Jozy has had some great touches, but doesn’t seem to have any acceleration, even when he is clearly hustling. Poz seems slow reacting sometimes.

Gotta give them credit for not collapsing.
