Default Official: Chris Armas has been fired

This deserves its own thread instead of being in the other one

Really interested in the spin they put on this for the presser. Both Ali and Manning look almost as bad as Armas in all of this. Whatever about how bad Armas was, these guys hired him and talked him up as the next big thing and had to fire him 6 or so months after they hired him.

Thank god this has come to a close. But it never should have got this bad. Shame on Curtis and Manning for letting things slide this far.

As a side note, Chris seems like a genuinely nice guy. Not the right manger for us but I wish him the best in the future.

Also curious to hear how they spin this, although I don't expect much more than "we tried him out, it didn't work and wish him the best of luck" or something to that effect.
Who's going to be filling in for the interim though? But let's be honest, even if they coach the team to a 5-0 loss, it'll still be an improvement.

    Maybe call Preki back?

Now would also be the time for the journos to press the issue regarding Altidore.

I realize you're joking, but fun fact: Preki's points per game were more than double Armas'.

Like we all were afraid of, he's considered immaculate by his superiors, so he's got another life, he will be fired only if a new coach (not interim) will also be a total disaster. In other words probably we are still "blessed" with Ali for maybe another year.

Almost as immaculate as our prolonged offseason search for a coach that literally yielded the worst candidate possible.

Gotta think the Altidore thing goes beyond Armas and involves Curtis and Manning. They did takes Armas' side and it isn't like he has been the happiest player here over the past two seasons.

Oh and I hope we can stick a fork in the whole press philosophy. Please get us a sensible manager who knows the strengths and weaknesses of players.

With Armas finally out and BMO on the horizon I’m cautiously optimistic for the first time in a long time. Problem is the guy that hired Armas is still there, so there’s every chance that the replacement is equally bad.

Window opens on the 7th, if Curtis did have something up his sleeve now would be the time to play the Jozy card, but I suspect he doesn't and time to play the weasel card and welcome Jozy back with open arms.... btw if Jozy wants to be back. I want him back.

Maybe that's why they have been using Vic Reuter, knowing this was coming all along. LOL.

    MLS refs haven't improved any.

I liked him at the time, but Carver belongs in the past.

I'm saving his "I know there's a problem. I don't know how to fix it but I will work at it really hard. I believe am the right man for the job" when my yearly review comes up.

They should be on the horn to Seattle asking for permission to talk to Pineda. You know, someone who actually deserves a chance to be a manager.

Do people who write this crap have two pebbles between their ears?

This is textbook nepotism. Caldwell has zero qualifications, has taken no meaningful steps towards being a coach with enough qualifications to manage TFC.

please name an interim coach in the mean time, while this season is still possible to get to the playoffs; its highly unlikely, however we can use the time to do a proper search for a proven coach to get us proven results, no more rushing and no more signing of your best buddy

Does he have coaching certificates? I'm so done with people who think they are too smart or are too lazy to get their tags.
