    ^^ Hah that's a good one.

Hopefully we have Yefe and Pozo for this and cruise against the struggling Bulls.

So just going to make the assumption that Poz does't play this one - he's not been in training & thigh stuff don't come back quick without training

Oso with an ice pack on after last night. In Seteldo we trust, it seems. We should beat NYRB because they are, frankly, not as good as us even without Oso & Poz.

    ********

Weather will be 13 degrees with a chance of rain. We actually get to see this team play outside of heat or altitude.

So we play the kids. Like Armas said. Priso, Okello etc, you're up.

    Let's go.

This is where the season really begins. Time to start getting some positive results. Against this Red Bulls team we should be winning. I don't care if Pozuelo is out, this is a team we should be beating if we are contenders.

Pozuelo and Soteldo are training with the team today. Pozuelo is ruled out for Saturday however.

KJ's post-game Jozy discussion on OneSoccer was interesting though. He emphasized the vaccine related illness was "just what he had been told" then went down a path of Jozy is a legend for what he's done for this club, but hasn't been at that level for a long time now. I'm paraphrasing, but he said something to the effect of "If Jozy's played his last game for TFC, he will still get met with a standing ovation next time he shows up at BMO".

Completely true - but felt like an odd direction to take it. Almost like he was hinting there is more going on behind the scenes than we may realize... Not sure if I'm reading too much into it but KJ's take was curious.

New York Red Bulls - Toronto FC

    William Hill +100 +250 +270 94.7%
    Average -101 +262 +259 94.7%

We may think that the NYRB is weak, and we should beat them, but... looks like the bookmakers consider the Red Bulls a strong enough favourite for this one.
Not a big fav though, for that the line on the "1" should be at least -140.

I may put in a wager for TFC +0.5 (is at -111 now at Pinnacle)... it's too tempting.

I suppose would part of it have to do with our record going to NYRB we are 2 wins 2 draw and 13 losses?

Anyways, this is a very important match for us.
In the Armas era we have 1 win now from 6 official matches, that's not something to be happy about.

A draw tomorrow is not the end of the world, but if we lose, there will be probably loads of angry and sad people on this forum.

Too bad we won't have Poz, but I am looking forward to this match. Can't wait for a glimpse of Yeferson in Red!

1PM start is pretty early...good thing I doublechecked just now otherwise I might have missed it tomorrow. For some reason I thought it was later in the afternoon. Not used to us having 1PM games almost ever. Hopefully the boys have their Wheaties by then and are ready to go...

@pizzaeatingyeti, it's an unfair sample size from which to judge Armas. We have dealt with a Covid outbreak and numerous injuries to key starters during that span.

Let's see what he can do with a reasonably healthy lineup.

The way to play those odds is to bet NYRB not TFC.

    - We had 44 points last year, they had 39. Not that much to choose between us.
    - We both went out of playoffs early.
    - We are on the road
    - No Pozo for us, multiple other guys are banged up or hurt
    - Something is not OK with Altidore, that could hang over the room
    - We need to rotate squad given CCL games
    - We looked bad in our two league games against teams that were expected to be weak

The wild card is Soteldo, but, despite what Poz did in his debut, most star debuts are not that great. Poz was playing beside 29 year old Jozy and a healthy Osorio in his first game ....

Let's not over-rotate if we lose. We may well do.

Putting big money on TFC at those odds. I have a strong believe that the Red Bulls are in a strong decline.

If Jozy has actually been sick for a solid week because of a Covid vaccine I'll be shocked.

i agree. it has probably been a whirlwind for him, but he was in the middle of his season so from an endurance level standpoint you hope that he's ready to go. Will likely need to manage his minutes a little as the season goes on or else he may start to fade.

Red Bull always play up for us. Watching video this year, there's more parity across the league than ever. I have no idea what to expect today.

Only gonna play Soteldo for 30 minutes today because all managers are cowards.
