I think its Nelson's first start and it was his cross that ended in the back of the net. This is a team that is going to run like crazy this summer and we will need him. We will have to be patient. He looks a bit out of sync but with actual minutes he will feel more comfort in his position in the system and with his teammates.

I dunno, Nelson and Auro are tripping all over each other, but I am not ready to declare Nelson not ready. He is hustling, tracking back nicely... declaring him a USL player seems premature.

After watching SKC-ORL last night, this game couldn ‘t be more different in terms of quality. Let’s take these points, bigger challenges are ahead

Is it unreal that these guys aren’t talking about Solteldo?

Somebody has to be providing a little more quality up top. DeLeon, Mullins, and Nelson as a group just aren’t all that effective.

Much prefer Okello in one of those advanced positions.

Not the best half but I am happy with the 1-0 lead. Quite a few sloppy passes and they look out of sync at times.

I don't think anyone is saying Nelson is trash and a full time USL player. It just seems like that if we want him to further develop he should be getting more minutes elsewhere as he is probably behind atleast Soteldo and Shaff on that left flank.

He just lacks that final bit of focus, but his willingness to try things and dribble is part of what makes him so good. Taking him off or sitting him for doing exactly what he’s best at will just strip him of confidence. He’s good, the nature of his game just leads to more “mistakes”.

Messy but effective. A team that isn’t sharp will get killed by the press. A team that is will tear it apart unless you have a very good first team.

This’ll probably work today, but against Seattle or LAFC we’ll be in big trouble if we can’t alternate with some possession-based play.

Agreed. I think they will gladly take a boring 45 to see this one out. Also nice to see the press can be reeled in when it doesn't make sense. If they could possess the ball a bit in the 2nd that would help.

I seriously want to know what the hell TSN is thinking with this telecast team. It’s awful.

The example of covering space is Okello jogging in a straight line? Edit: and no mention of Solteldo? These guys are a bunch of corporate lap dogs. At least say something you clowns.

I was just gonna mention that. The next clip was Okello moving slightly to his left.

Yeah, and the example right after that of Gonzalez “warning” Okello....only for the ball to be played across the Vancouver back line , nowhere near them!

    Bizarre.

Again, no idea why Caldwell woudl think Vancouver would be happy with that half. We were okay, they were total shit.

This is where they really miss KJ. I'm glad to see JDG get airtime, particularly since Canadian sports media is missing out on BIPOC voices, but he's not at the stage yet to be a lead analyst on TV. I feel like JDG playing off of KJ's lead would have been much better.

They seriously miss a person who can break down a game tactically - Caldwell ain't it.

I mean, to be frank, agree there needs to be more diversity on the panels but JDG is a rambling, charisma-free offering.

Surely we have others who could do better. Dero would certainly add character and I’ve seen Adrian Serioux do these quite well too, although he’s closer to colour commentary than an analyst per say.

Really what they did was fire the person who should be doing the job and failed to realize that would be the hardest position to replace. You could fire either of the other guys 3x over and you’d have plenty of replacements.

Incredibly dumb challenge by Laryea. What are you doing throwing a lazy leg in front of a player in the box?

Not great from Lareya. Sure Cava goes down easy but if you stick your legs in there you're begging for it.
