Absolutely, I should have assumed. Frankly, the news of Giovinco possibly returning has me worried that nothing is going to change.

Rollins has mentioned Pirlo to TFC. Based on his track record we can completely rule that "rumor" out.

I've said it elsewhere a few weeks ago but I think they go hard on an a big name Italian coach or DP. The money Seba brought in from the Italian-Canadian community was massive and I bet they try and go to that well again given the last two years.

Kemar Lawrence at CB looked pretty good on the weekend. I know it wasn't what he was brought in for but maybe a possibility going forward given our lack of depth and need for someone solid at that position. Just a thought.

These moves (Giovinco, Pirlo) are ridiculous are reek of short term thinking. We can only hope the latter is nothing but a rumour. If he works out he gets on the plane back to Italy for a better gig. If he fails he gets back on the plane to Italy for another gig.

They need to focus on finding solutions for the long term and that begins with a better president and GM.

The low bar for manager is Bob Bradley.

Everything else has to be better then that, which is doable.

    Pirlo ain't better

Pirlo. This is the Vieira thing all over again.

I have news for everyone. These guys travel in helicopters. They aren’t grinding it out, ever. There is virtually no scenario in which a former player that made $50-100M or whatever over his lifetime is coaching in MLS. Vieira in NY was a very special case (given city and obvious shot at bigger job).

Pirlo came to North America for $8M a year and I cannot imagine anyone paying him one tenth of that to manage in MLS.

I thought I saw Vanney was making $3M.

If Bradley comes wouldn’t it be to replace Manning?

I figured he would dual role GM & manager until his managerial replacement is ready (MB after getting his badges).

    There is no way.

I could see him getting $1M a year. Maybe.

I don't know how accurate this site is but given that they only list a half dozen and just don't have any more, I'd suggest probably accurate. If they were bullshitting, they'd fill out the rest. By this measure, Bruce Arena's $899,000 per year is the highest.

It says Thierry Henry was making $5M but was an outlier.

By the way, another site says the average MLS community engagement manager makes $55,000 per year. Trying living on that in TO and being downtown. Fun!

I could have sworn it was reported somewhere that Vanney was on 750k and that was close to the top end of coaches salaries.

Marsch would land somewhere in RB land - the company really likes him & I can't see Marsch coming back to MLS yet.

^Cannot lose sight of this, Ali should have no say. HE NEEDS TO BE FIRED IN HIS CURRENT ROLE. He has disappeared from public view to try to avoid his sacking thinking we will forget. His decision on Armas and others was so incredibly poor. NO SECOND CHANCE. We are fighting for the Wooden Spoon people.

We should clear a DP spot and offer the same $13-M that Cincy offered for Brenner to sign 18-year-old Matias Arezo from River Plate of Montevideo.

Euro clubs are salivating him but the fans of most that are talking about him think he's two years away from top leagues. Atletico Madrid is apparently prepared to wait out his contract to get him for free, as it expires next year.

He has 33 goals in the Uruguayan Primera over the last three seasons including 12 goals in 16 games this year. But with his deal expiring, his club want to sell him now. Offer enough money and a big chunk of his next sell on and we could get him for two or three years before one of the big clubs swoops in.

It would be ambitious, but he'd score 20 for a song in MLS. He's got wheels like Soteldo but is built like a little tank and can finish lethally. Sorta Josef Martinez good but 18, basically.

Both Atletico and Liverpool have been approached by his club because he bears both a statistical and physical resemblance to Suarez, similar game too. But both have declined to bid, concerned that at 18 he'd cost too much to spend two or three years prepping for the top divisions. (This is all internet scuttlebutt, I should note.) Madrid apparently are eyeing a free transfer, as he's rated at $12M and they think he'll need to be loaned back to a smaller club for seasoning.

He has the same kind of international profile as Brenner and Cincy pulled that off, so why not give it a try? We'd probably lose out to someone much bigger but throw enough money at him, his agent and his club and it would make a hell of splash.

When Poz is in the middle, what we don't have is enough of this sort of movement going on

We are too static outside of the box.

That's my concern about bringing in another forward. No matter who we have, we don't

    a) attempt to pass to the guy if they do make the run
    b) do enough runs to begin with

    To much dinking...not enough darting.

Really happy for him. Guess it was Hoillet's absence that opened up the spot.

If that is the case, would love to be a fly on a wall for this conversation…. Poz we would like you to give your number 10 to Gio. That will go over well.
