    Doyle has a good point

Our defence has issues but the offence should hum.

    Big, big signing.

Interesting wrinkle: Don’t believe Soteldo is eligible to be a Young DP. That gives TFC three senior DPs, all presumably unable to be bought down w/ TAM. That means only one Young Money/U-22 slot for Toronto.

Maybe he should retrain as a fullback? He's a pretty decent defensive player, he can play the wings. He doesn't bring much offensively and interplay/defending is where most of his value lies anyway, so...

Yeh, the more I read up on how people who watch South American football rate this guy, the more excited I get. We seem to have somehow grabbed one of the better young talents in South America, primarily because Europe places a premium on height & we are willing to pay the man a ton of $.

We will know once the details come out but this again looks like MLSE was willing to spend serious coin - the talk of going back to be a non-spending team under Curtis just got undermined.

This is all very exciting. I just thought the board would not have the desire to throw around the cash as long as you could not be back at BMO Field with fans in the stands. 25% of MLSE's staff are temporarily laid off and everyone else has taken a significant pay cuts, thus not the best of times down at 50 Bay St.

Remember The Man, The Legend, The Goal 5-12-07 and All That #9 Left On The Pitch, Thanks For The Memories !!!

they probably see it as a long term investment.

santos turned down far lager bids for soltedo (rumours of a 19 million bid rejected from atlanta in 2019), so getting him for this price now will be a wise investment long term.

Larry T is a very smart businessman. Now is the time to be a buyer - buy low, sell high.

I'm quite pleased to be wrong. I suspect his age and resale potential have a lot to do with this getting done so quickly. He's still young enough that he could do three or four years here and still go for premium coin to a bigger club, like Almiron.

I didn’t think either Curtis or Manning could make such a move happen, so full credit to them from me, and to MLSE. It’s very smart business to seize an opportunity created by the financial crisis. Plus Yefe hasn’t put a foot wrong.

I think Pozuelo would be a better fit at RW in a 4-3-3. I'd rather just play him in his best position all the time but he's played on the right for us before and he'd just become the de facto #10 anyway the second Laryea goes forward, which is and should continue to be often. It'll also allow us to have a fluid midfield 3 with Bradley/Delgado/Osorio all capable of being proper two-way midfielders

Moor could afford to be slower, as he never put a foot wrong. And he marshalled the back line.

Omar is supremely athletically gifted but his speed and occasional boneheaded decisions mean he's not the line leader Moor was. Few are. Given how he's played since he left, we never should have let Moor go (or Beitashour).

I recall us trying to play a highline with Drew a once in a while....was not pretty.

Drew fit our defence at the time. He'd be getting slaughtered with our press system.

You know, it’s funny how one signing can dramatically change perceptions. I feel like we’re 1-2, not necessarily expensive, players away from having a 2017 level roster.

Broadly, areas to address / questions in my head:

    - Depth at LB
    - more fleet footed CB
    - marginally, someone who more directly fits on the right side of the attack?
    - can the strikers deliver? With Pozuelo and Solteldo, there should be no excuses. These guys should be having career years.

    @MichaelSingh94

Toronto FC has traded another international roster spot to Orlando City SC in exchange for $200,000 in GAM.

I know our defence had issues last season and OG is imperfect, but we were 9th in the league in GA/90 at 1.13. That's pretty solid. A bigger issue was our scoring was non existant at the end of the season when Piatti, Oso, Jozy and Ayo were out. In our last 9 games last year we scored more than one goal only once (2 vs NYRB) and had 7 goals across those games.

That sort of settles the idea of the next acquisition being anybody but a domestic.

That would be very dicey. He’s off a serious injury and may have the same speed issues as Gonzalez.

It’s either Cornelius (doubtful, as he’s young and not really an organizer) or an American from somewhere in the broader league.
