Not only that, but we’d have more rot and things for the next team to clear out. Right now, there is a lot of flexibly on the horizon for someone new coming in.

It’s critical that isn’t given to the current team. They had their chance and failed

While I do agree that they both should go, are we just gonna hope they don't do anything in the offseason and have an awful year again next season just to get them fired?

Well signs are pointing to that they are not fired but who knows at this point.

In any case I don't know how solid those sources were. Well find out soon enough whether MLSE approves of buying out Jozy, and steps right back into the DP market the same year.

    ^What signs?

Larry T hasn’t mentioned Manning since March. Friisdahl has never said a word about Manning (or anybody or anything else, ever).

Manning burned USD $75M in the last couple of years on Jozy's extension, Poz and Solteldo. Sure he has a 5 year deal, but that just means he would get severance, and not that much compared to these player costs.

The decision to keep him or cut him, there has to be a big conversation happening.

Manning is 100% gonna sacrifice Curtis to save his skin. He'll split Ali's current workload between himself and a new manager and eliminate the GM job.

Respect your opinion but I don’t think the absence of comment from Friisdahl or Larry T necessarily means anything.

You’d think if Manning was under review they’d cage him and keep him out of the press. Doesn’t appear to be the case. Although you could certainly point to that with Ali.

You still need a cap specialist to deal with navigating the MLS that gives economists an aneurysm.

^meant seriously, how difficult is navigating the cap? If that is the only reason, cut the ties. Culturally he nearly destroyed the club and I truly believe unnecessary injuries were sustained under his hirings.

With renewals looming, I’d be surprised to see Curtis last past Monday as they’ll need to throw out some beacon of change, and fast.

Curtis definitely needs to go. And no more Red Bulls rejects ever again in the club.

The second the season is done, Altidore, Bradley and Gonzo better be gone also. They are all completely finished...yet drawing huge paycheques still and why we are at the bottom of the mls.

Anybody know what's up with Perruzza? Not making the bench or playing in USL recently. Would be nice to have a look at him. He said he'd be TFC all time leading scorer one day ..

I certainly 2nd this, to spend so much money on our club and produce these poor results falls at the top, until Curtis, Manning and Perez leave we are built to fail, you could bring in any reinforcements, but without a clear identity we are doomed to fail, MLSE should also be willing to meet with supporter clubs, to see what requirements should be looked at in finding our new management, they take the fans for granted, i understand i may not be a RPB but they are closer to my level than that of MLSE, its time we get this build right so we can continue moving forward together

Agree with above posts. Hiring quote unquote losers should be a non-starter at this club. It is shocking that Armas was allowed to be interviewed. All things considered.

My view is that Manning inherited a great team and has presided over a fairly rapid decline. But being president of the Argos as well and therefore having divided loyalty didn’t help. It’s a ridiculous cost savings by two of the biggest corporations in North America.

To your first question - Very difficult. You need someone who can manage the cap properly to be able to pivot when needed and not lock your lineup for 2+ years.

To your second point - I agree, culturally Ali isn't the guy.

You clearly have no memory of how this team was built before he got here vs after he arrived. He didn't inherit a great team, he inherited a team that has some flashy pieces and no substance, especially defensively. Moor, Beitashour, Johnson, Irwin, Endoh, Ricketts, Cooper, Mavinga, Vazquez, Hasler were all brought in after he arrived.

When Seba and Bez left Pozuelo,, westburg, Larea, Auro, Achara were brought in and guy like Shaffelburg, Akinola, Priso, Okello were promoted to the first team and given proper development minutes as oppose to being sold off for immediate results.

We made the Cup final a year after bez left. We finished second a year after that. This team isn't rotting away. We just lost our manager - one of the best in MLS - what did you think would happen?

Ya'll need to stop listening to the alarmists and Stop buying into the babble on how an executive should run the club by the armchair "experts" on this board. Way more often than not, these guys have been wrong with their conspiracy theories.

Maybe the more nuanced answer here is we’ve never had a great management team, just average ones that have been made to look better than they are through MLSE’s pocketbook.

If we step back and look at how consistently Seattle is able to compete, you have to question why we aren’t in the same ballpark when we’ve spent even more money in all areas of the organization.

    This

It really is that simple. With the resources available should we be a better club-Yes. Manning was in charge for a significant chunk of time and we are boom and bust, not the perennial power he sold us on. Time for change-not that I think it will happen.

Auro came in under Bez’s tenure, it was also Bez that secured TFC 2 in USL that lead to development minutes

The only manger change Seattle has ever made was when they moved from Sigi to Smetzer (all of their finals runs were with Smetzer).

That has been TFC's downfall IMO - The management changed and they immediately locked into Vanney and it worked. They faltered on the transition after Vanney and we are feeling the effects of it.

Extrapolating it beyond that and into the "Management has been a failure since day 1" is where i call BS.

ya you are right about Auro - I was thinking about when he actually became official. Still - here during Manning's time.

Also - yes Bez secured TFC2 in USL - something that needed to happen - that wasn't my point. My point being Manning mandating more playing time for younger players this season. Go back and listen to pre-season interviews. It was the plan from the start and IMO has been successful. I'm sure others won't see it that way.

I think “failure since day 1” is hyperbole but to say they are, at a minimum, significant under performers rings true.

Not sure of your larger point here. Is it that our woes are primarily coaching related and we’ve otherwise done a good job with the roster?

Yes - my point is our woes are primarily coaching. If this season isn't an indication of how the wrong person can upset a club and a simple switch can stabilize it, then I don't know what is.

This has been an injury riddled season on par with 2018 IMO Too many injuries upsetting any time of momentum we can build up.

MLS MVP has been out for most of the season with injury
Our work horse CB out for long stretches this season
Guys we were counting on to step up this year have been injured (Priso, Ayo)

I believe if Vanney was still here we would've faired much better considering he wouldn't have to tinker to figure out how to fill the holes. You can see how Perez, whose vision of the game is similar to Vanneys, has been able to adjust with limited knowledge of the pieces he has. i think Vanney would've pulled off more results because he would just know how to adjust - no tinkering. he would've just defaulted to an OSO/Delgado pivot because he knows it works. I think in other situations he would've used more of the 3-5-2/5-3-2 to compensate for the defensive woes and use Bradley somewhere to support that.

Generally speaking the roster isn't bad. Look beyond the injuries and we have a decent lineup that can compete in MLS We have a lot of things we can do to accomodate, but we needed someone earlier who knows the roster to do it -

Perez may be the guy now, because he seems to be understanding the pieces better and better, so we'll see. I'll go so far as to say that I think if we started the season with him - we would've been in a better position as well.

There have been a bad signing for sure
    - I think Soteldo was a purchase made for Armas ball - now that he's gone, we're stuck with him so bad signing yes.
    - I've spoke at length about Omar - with the only bad part IMO being the length we signed him for
    - Jozy was also a bad signing - knee jerk reaction that was based on rewarding a player to stay vs really critically examining what we were doing.

You get us a Striker, a CB leader and some other form of attacker that can mesh with the pieces we have - I think we are back in playoff contention - minimum.

The rest of the team is fine. We don't need much more outside of that. We have a lot of talent. Just needs to stay healthy.

2019 and 2020 were flukey seasons, I said it then and I’ll say it now. The signs for change were obvious and good results despite poor performances only provided excuses to ignore those signs. Now their ignorance has come to bite them.

This club began the season reiterating it’s status as a perennial title contender and outspent every other team. In any serious league - I don’t care about the sport - the individuals responsible for grossly fumbling and misjudging their position to the point that the club is last place, would resign or at least be fired.

Leaving aside all the arguments about whether and who should go from our front office, what sports executive ever resigns when the team isn't playing well? If that ever happened, Ed Woodward would have resigned 5 years ago. Daniel Levy would have resigned at least a decade ago. I don't get this whole "they should resign" thing at all.

People need to take a good hard look around the league to see the quality of GM's & Presidents.

There is only 1 exec in this league that has not effed up something in the last 5 years & Lagerway is not going anywhere (And I suspect Seattle supporters have an opinion on him that isn't always rosy)

Heck, people need to take a look at European league & ask themselves how perfect any of them are.

Am I happy with the current situation? No

Do I think certain members of the management should go? Yes

Do I think me being happy with the management team & player roster is necessary for me to go to games & support the team? Hell No
