Zavs is captain again tonight for his country
It should be noted, he's now the undisputed captain of that team...Darwin Ceren is starting and not the captain
Oh, and if I was TFC, I would be putting Hugo Perez on a list for if we need a coach in 2023. He's brought that team back from a really bad place to the point where they played the Mexicans last weekend in front of what amounts to a home crowd...in the US.
Think about that for a second....a Mexican team at a game in the US & the larger more vocal crowd is not the El Tri followers.
Deep dive on why Miami is soooo bad

Interesting breakfast read thanks.
I would have bet money that Higuain would do what Zlatan did. It's incredible how bad he has been.
They really need a Michael Bradley circa 2015 to go into Pizarro's spot (after they figure out what to do with Pizarro).
For all this talk about spending/marketing… why are Miami spending big dollars on Mexicans? (They are signing a Liga MX defender today). There are 20 clubs in MLS where Mexicans would be the top draw but Miami is not one of them. Talk about a team that should have been in on Soteldo…

“What the world needs is more geniuses with humility; there are so few of us left.”
Who is up for some solid comedy?
Rollins thinks Kaye and Jozy are equivalent in trade value.

Had to unfollow Rollins. Nothing worse than someone who pretends to be ITK and gets proven wrong 95% of the time.
All that GAM out from the Rapids pretty much indicates they are not going for anybody up front.
Kaye is one of the most valuable players in MLS. Jozy is a salary dump - even half way through the year, TFC would have to eat salary or take back someone else’s bad contract to move him.
That has to be one of the worst takes I have ever seen.

You know, I feel he had a niche for a while there as one of the early independents covering the team. Didn’t mind his stuff at the beginning.
But, as time as gone on, I just found him to be very cagey. Also seems to want to be all things to all people. He was once good at picking up on the fan experience and expressing himself from that point of view. Signings and rumours have never been his ticket.
Jozy to Rapids for MAK makes no sense. Jozy to Rapids makes sense.
Kroenke would never approve paying a player 3.5 million.
Can we trade Rollins to Colorado for one of their "reporters"
I'm pretty sure Rollins "Sources" are this board lmao.
Serious question - what is Rollins? Is/was he an actual reporter? I feel like I used to know but I've since forgotten.
He's a blogger, not a "real" reporter. I stopped following his stuff years ago. He had a niche explaining the "Toronto fan" experience in the earlier days of TFC when people were just excited that something looking like real supporters had shown up in an MLS City not called DC.
As MLS 2.0 and later 3.0 developed with Seattle and then other teams joining Toronto as cities with serious support he lost his relevance.
Honestly, the best source for real journalism about TFC right now is John Molinaro. I'm constantly impressed with the quality content he turns out.
MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto
The three Canadian MLS teams received a National Interest Exemption today.

96% vaccinated. If all of North America was like that we would be in a great place.
Agreed! Despite the Delta variant and everything else, that would bring the R value so low that the damn thing would just die out.
That's interesting about the NIE. I understand how it works for the visiting teams: anyone unvaccinated or partially vaccinated can only participate in work activities (games and training), and can't attend any other functions and locations, until they leave Canada again. That seems to be the biggest value of the NIE for both MLB and MLS: that visiting teams can bring all their players to the games in Canada.
For a local player like DeLeon, that will apply for 14 days after every away game! Can't go shopping or anywhere else; just his home, BMO field and the TFC training ground. Same applies for any Blue Jays player or staff who aren't fully vaccinated (not sure if they have any). Doesn't apply to CF Montreal as they traded their only unvaccinated player. Also i just checked: 100% of Vancouver Whitecaps players are fully vaccinated.
This doesn't really seem like a realistic permanent solution for DeLeon. Due to TFC's away games, he can basically only be at those three locations for the rest of the season. The guy loves hiking and the outdoors for example.

Anytime we're depressed about the front office, it might cheer us to know Miami paid Estudiantes $9-million to... loan Mattias Pellegrini back to Estudiantes for two years, doubtless also picking up his salary.
Perhaps the worst piece of business in league history.
I had to look that up, $9M for a 19 year old with less than 20 games at his old club.
Highlights the perils of signing South Americans. I know there are gems down there that just need playtime, but it's probably the most highly scouted region in world football.
