It's easy to forget he came into the league as a striker. Chivas played him up top but he didn't get many chances before going to Seattle, where they moved him to the backline. He started as a defender, then became a striker, then became a defender again.

When he left college, the consensus was whoever took him would move him to the backline because he was considered quick (!) and great in the air, with good ball skills. But Chivas gave him a brief shot at striker, which after his college success was his preferred position.

He's really good in the air. We've had days when we could've used a target striker to knock down balls and challenge crosses, and we'd have done worse than throw him up top. Probably still a better striker than Adam Jahn or a few of the other bruisers who've seen time up top in MLS.

Jefferson has been selected to Venezuela's squad for the Copa America. TSN has the matches.

TFC only operates in intervals of 2 weeks. Since he's been out 3 already they were forced to round it up and say he was out between 2+2 weeks and 2+2+2 weeks

Look on the bright side maybe his injury wasn't as bad as initially thought, he was always going to be away for Copa anyway

Its amazing that on Sunday TSN has 3 Euro games and 2 Copa games yet Canada fans have to go to onesoccer.

Wow didn’t realize that TSN also had Copa...safe to say I’ll be highly unproductive on Sunday.

And yes, Canada Soccer need to figure that out before they piss away this golden generation on OneSoccer. No pun intended.

I can't stand this fact. Just shows the mentality of people in Canada. Aside from people like us, soccer only gets respect when it is played outside of North America and the broadcasters know it.

it doesn’t help that we keep producing domestic leagues that are garbage, in the deluded concept that fans who watch international quality football and Serie A will cotton to “grassroots” football to the point where it supports serious pay and infrastructure development.

Meanwhile, the academy system has so thoroughly passed them by that the Jonathan Davids, Alphonso Davies and Cyle Larins of the world are still getting signed.

Unless they were going to call themselves the Columbus buckeyes and change the team colours to red and grey this was always going to be a tough sell.

Hearing Inter Miami won its Saturday scrimmage vs. Toronto FC in Orlando by a 3-0 mark.

Julian Carranza scored twice in the exhibition and Jay Chapman had the other goal.

Federico Higuain also failed to put away a penalty kick

IIRC that makes Chapman the first ex-TFC player to score on us in an extremely long time (albeit an exhibition)

Loans not helping TFC II. Another 1-0 loss tonight, seven straight now

It's funny, because they look more cohesive than the first team.

It's possible -- just possible -- that we don't have the defensive speed at either team to play the press all the time.

Seven straight? It's their second loss in a row. Six games without a win, but 3 were draws. (and no bad blowout, basically one goal against every game)

One thing TFC2 has done though is through their 7 games, three different keepers have played: Caleb and Silva twice and Vaikla thrice. Armas still has only played one

My apologies, without a win. Still, three out of 18 points remains utter dogshit.

I wouldn't be criticizing TFCII for anything other then the inability to gut out results - that has been chronic for that team since Game 1 of Year 1 of its existence.

Gonzalo Higuain with some thoughts on MLS

"I thought I would come here and play with a cigarette in my mouth and, instead, it is difficult."It is a tough league. I learned that it is similar to Italian football.
"In Spain and England it is easier to do well, while in Italy, if you do not know the league, you suffer."

What's with the current love of original NASL-style logos? That was a really bad time in soccer branding.
MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto

Nice logo. For a tractor company in the Soviet Union in 1971.

What the heck is with the new rebrand logos, all have the team's first letter in big bold, in the center kind of logos.
That is extremely weak, and screams US college team logos! Very very specific of US college sports.
Even if somehow some team's logos come out better than the old ones (which were awful to begin with).

Don't get me wrong, TFC has also a huge "T" in the middle of the logo, but that's different, a lot more fine looking, and has zero US college team's feel.

With all MLS going crazy it seems with these logo rebrandings, I think is a good idea that everyone shold email their TFC reps, and expressing their opinion that TFC-s logo should be never ever changed.

I don't know how many here have the same view like me, but TFC-s logo is great as it is, it has already tradition linked to, and should be never ever changed IMO!

Would probably look cutting edge and cool in the 70's.
