FC Mtl frustrated.

Montreal guy forgetting that the Voyageur's is about the Voyageur's and the CCL placing is just a part of that.
You know, as a general statement, I would agree the CSA still needs to up its game. For over a decade, it seems like all matter of things are left to the last minute .
But that said, these are exceptional times and short of players and fans being sufficiently vaccinated... the alternatives are limited.
This side argument about CF MTL being the current champion and should get the CCL spot is so lame I can't believe it. They were eliminated in 2020. The argument is if you can't play a final then the rest of the tournament didn't happen? Strange logic.
I don't love that TFC was handed the spot but other than travelling back in time and wishcasting the pandemic away I don't see any other viable option. The Cup and the CCL are seperate things and a home date with fans v TFC has got to be more valuable to Forge for building their brand than flying down completely unpreppared to get smoked in Mexico. Like these players make $30k a year - are they even in Hamilton? There is a lot to manage with no time for advanced planning to staff up and support the team. TFC has an existing MLSE staff planning and executing all the details that allowed them to get cleared, and actually accomplish training.
Montreal is just talking garbage now. I don't love how we got in, but if they wanted the spot, they should have beaten us in MLS play last year during those qualifying games. You didn't. Also, the argument is it's the "Champions League not the Finalists League", pretty sure Mexico sends their Finalists, there's the semi-finalists of the Concacaf League in their. They just wanted a free spot. Sure, we didn't earn our spot, but they earned even less.
Agree with Pacey, a home match versus TFC provides them with so much more than two road matches (one in Mexico, one in the US) to get destroyed. Plus their players make little, some have second jobs. Those matches would require them to take time off from work for mandatory quarantine, losing income. TFC probably also agreed to just pitch them some of the CCL prize money (I'm speculating).

For those interested in stadiums, Precourt's looks actually pretty good down in Austin - big space for wind, everybody covered from the sun - the diregeur safe standing wall.

Remember that time we had to win the Voyagers cup in 2016 and 2017 to qualify for the 2018 CCL due to a change in the schedule format. I didn't see Montreal lining up to say that was unjust and that TFC had earned the birth by winning the 2016 tournament and only after the fact had the birth taken away. Nope Montreal played us in that 2017 final with a birth in the tournament on the line. To me this is Karma.

Gensler, the design firm, also did the most recent BMO expansion.

Gilmore should probably worry about if he can ever win any fans back after spearheading one of the worst rebrands in the history of North American sport
TFC II officially back in USL1

I don't care for super snazzy stadiums (functional is good enough for me), but Cincy's new stadium is super snazzy

“Years have gone by and I’ve finally learned to accept myself for who I am: a beggar for good football.
I go about the world, hand outstretched, and in the stadiums I plead: ‘A pretty move, for the love of God.’
And when good football happens, I give thanks for the miracle and I don’t give a damn which team or country performs it.”

Thy are playing against the Miami USL team today, yea?
They did play today. It was treated as training though so no score was kept. Heaven forbid that we actually have something to talk about with this team.
