I hate to say it but I really wouldn’t be surprised if Piatti is back on a one year DP contract again. With lots of bullshit and excuses of course!

More likely a younger version of him. They will fill the DP slot - to not do so is a waste of a resource for a year and we saw in 2020 that TFC is going to have 3 DP's no matter what.

There is precious little revenue coming in now that the only thing they can do is to patch up the interest as long as possible - that means continue being a contender. Rollins made a good point in his letter today - this team is younger then CBus & only didn't go far because it couldn't bust Nashville.

I agree with Rollins and I’m hoping for better, but I have a bad feeling that nothing is going to work out and that Piatti is the backup plan, just like Armas.

They already said Piatti won't be a dp if he is brought back.

I don't see Piatti back as a DP, but I don't disagree with Kamp Berg that Curtis/Manning have misspoken a number of times.

Sure - they shouldn't put timelines on stuff - we learned that with Pozuelo - but they got it done.

Show me where they've said something and not come through
or they said one thing would happen and it went the opposite?

Ya'll are speaking like they lie on the regular and haven't once come through on anything they've said.

I'm just ready for a rumor to come up. I don't even care if it is legit.

I think there are more than a few shortfalls here. He’s now on attempt 3 to find an impact player out wide. First was a disaster, second was sturdy but not what a DP should be, and now here we are (again) in the market.

This isn’t just stating an arbitrary target date and harmlessly not having the job done when it passes. TFC waiting for players has an impact on our competitiveness.

The more i looked into it, i really liked the Borre one. I just hope it was real and that was the type of player they were chasing. 25 and in his prime, not too young that we lose him, not too old that they slow down quickly.

We’ve been looking for a bonafide winger since 2018. Janson, Gallardo, Benezet, Piatti. Out of those four our best winger has been Nick DeLeon.

I’m still surprised that Richie Laryea hasn’t been considered to fill the slot.

Janson was actually pretty good on an awful team. Wish we kept him. Laryea looked good when he played the wing. Piatti is solid and definitely better than DeLeon.

Yeah Gallardo is the only one of those four who was just straight up bad. The others were good to mediocre but for the most part overpaid, which is still a failure of the FO in finding an actual foundation piece winger

For me it’s an “over promise and underdeliver” kind of situation. For example, Piatti was very good for us - just not quite what we needed and never really a DP level. I like his work ethic and skill and we were demonstrably better when he was playing - but not DP better.

I have no inside info on this stuff, but Munir from Sevilla has been mentioned to me as someone who ticks all the boxes of what TFC is looking for.

My understanding is that the only reason Janson didn't stay was the size of the transfer fee demanded by his club in Argentina.

i didn’t want Janson as a DP at the time, as a TAM sure. i always thought that was the issue.

Now is the time to spend a little more, especially this summer when COVID has reduced a club's finance, and more willing to sell. Go after the next Pity Martinez (hopefully actually pans out) or Miguel Almiron with a big bag of cash.

Normally, I don't advocate spending too much money on transfer, but yeah.

    Well, there was Pozuelo

I go about the world, hand outstretched, and in the stadiums I plead: ‘A pretty move, for the love of God.’
