Thats the one advantage the Leafs have right , they are playing at home sleeping in their own beds, where the Raptors, Jays and TFC are or will be playing all or at least part of the season in Florida. When we do struggle, and I agree with ensco, this is likely, I wouldn't mind seeing the return of "Effin Team Effin works" - that seemed missing in 2020.

The possibility of kids breaking through seems like the most likely bright-spot of this season.

I’m actually less concerned about the kids than I am the back line. I can’t picture the group of CB’s we have pulling off a high line.

Even when Armas is talking about training, that seemed to be a point he wanted to quickly move on from discussing.

They just have to be pragmatic and take a staged approach to implementing these new tactics.

I am hopeful Armas is more practical than Winter.

    Funny!

Poor Aron has such a bad rep around here. I have wondered if Winter wouldn’t have succeeded under Leiweke/Bez. He was not clueless, but he sure worked with and for clueless people. He is now the Assistant Manager for the Greece MNT, where he works for John vant Schip, his longtime Ajax teammate. vant Schip is an interesting story btw, born in rural BC and lived there until age 9. His managerial stints include Chivas in Liga MX.

So, our last non-homegrown signing was Pablo Piatti over a year ago if you don't count Gallacher's loan stint.

This is the quiet off-season by far ever. One so called off-season signing even thought it was announced last year, academy product Jordan Peruzza. Its two players out, Ciman and Piatti. The Reds are full at 30 players right, could open a spot with Rocco still out on loan in Denmark.

With the exception of Austin, it's much queiter around the whole league. DP & TAM signings way down from 2020. So either the league as a whole is being tighter with money or because the window shifted to being open so late it just makes sense to go for the summer signings as they're cheaper & easier.

On our front though we couldn't even do the kit announcement before preseason started.

BMO grounds crew Tweeted out a job posting today so maybe there's some chance of something this year unless it's for the Argos.

Isn't the XFL season coming back in 2022? Why would they be doing anything for the Argos now?

FWIW, CFL still planning to play in 2021 and has a schedule in place.

First Argo home game is June 19th.

Oh, lol. I'm a pretty good deadpanner in person too tbh.

ed: Although the CFL is today fending off rumours that they are cancelling the 2021 season, so maybe my original comment wasn't as jokey as I first intended it.

I still don't see how you have a starting Midfield of MB, Oso, Marky and Poz in a high pressing system. Until that is answered, nothing else makes sense. Not even CFL jokes.

when you play with the variations, it drives you crazy, because none look like pressing teams. Oso - Marky - Poz - Endoh - Schaff; MB - Priso - Oso - Poz - Nelson; Oso - Fraser - Poz - Gallardo - DeLeon for example, all assuming that Jozy and Ayo are up top. If not and its Poz - Jozy or Poz - Ayo or Poz Mullinho up top, then its Oso- Marky - MB - Nelson - Gallardo or the other way around

Armas mentioned Poz as false 9 again or as a SS behind Jozy so that may move him out of midfield.

I did manage to find a link to a player today though. João Victor from Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga. He is listed as Victor Sa in the tweet, but I am pretty sure most know him as João Victor.

Now that we’ve got that out of the way, we will turn our sights to the most pressing matter: signing Curtis to his next next contract.

By the time we’re done figuring that out it will almost be renewal time again.

This decision by TFC is really really funny. You think they would wait until a signing.... preferably a big one. Boggles.
