This has been a big problem I have had with TFC since we won MLS cup. The marketing and awareness of this team is extremely Mickey Mouse
I feel like with this pandemic, TFC is the team most vulnerable of the Toronto teams to lose visibility and MLSE is doing nothing to combat that.
When the gates open again we know that the supporters will be back but how many other casual fans will be clambering to get back into BMO with 1.5 to 2 years of little to no hype by our FO.

I think that our squad, overall, is quite good. The problem is that we'll need a head coach who'll make them all work together to get the most out of them (hopefully Armas is the guy) as well as the extra added quality to get us past the tough moments (like Piatti, Jozy, and Pozuelo did several times last season). Hopefully we get a solid Piatti replacement (maybe someone more consistent than him?), and hopefully we can move on from Jozy.

Yeah its crazy. We won a championship, almost won the CCL and made the MLS finals again.

All moment just stopped right after the CCL run and with Seba leaving. I guess the Raptors winning played a part in sucking the life out of this team.

We are on par with the Argos now.

Remember that guy the raptors drafted a few years ago in Bruno Caboclo.

The front office said he was two years away from being two years away.

That's where I feel TFC is now with the roster. All this talk about home grown prospects, playing the kids etc.

Sheesh, way to kill a franchise. My excitement level is absolutely dead.

Funny. After listening to Chris on the Zoom call today, I feel very motivated going forwadf:
    1) An unbelievable 6 years of success like I have never experienced, or thought I would ever experience, supporting a team.
    2) A new coach committed to developing young players.
    3) A really tough, but exciting, Champions League draw versus Leon.
Yes, the Raptors sucked the interest out of all the other teams in the city. That's the real challenge, indeed. But I'd still rather build intelligently rather than make some signing that would fill a few seats in the short term rather than build in the long term. Hearing from French friends about Vieira at Nice (or Henry at Monaco), we missed a bullet there...!

    Short answer: no

Less short answer: the call was more about Armas' approach to handling players/the squad and how he plans coach the team (at an abstract level).

Sources: Due to the delayed start of the season, the MLS primary transfer window has been shifted back. Was originally scheduled to open Wednesday and run through May 4.

It will now open March 10 and close June 1.

That was basically it, unfortunately. I was expecting a Q&A like in past events, but we didn't get any.

No player news coming until April then. At this rate might as well just sign a better player to arrive in the summer window.

Yeah, not really "young DP's" as much as "young people who cost us more in transfer but don't take much salary". The salary amount is limited to the single player cap max.

Unlimited acquisition cost plus max salary with a 200k cap hit is crazy good.

I still think one of the best things the league could do for the teams is remove acquisition cost from the cap entirely though.

Default New details on the MLS U-22 initiative.

Wonder who the Reds may use this newly created destination on?

New details on the MLS U-22 initiative, per source: To be eligible, player cannot turn 23 in the first season of their contract; Once tagged under U-22 initiative, player can stay under the designation until they turn 25; Homegrowns and draftees also eligible for the tag.

    Some background on U-22 initiative:

    - Teams can sign up to 3 players under it

    - Unlimited acquisition costs for those players

    -
Salary capped at/around max budget charge

    -
Players hit budget at reduced charge, $150k or $200k from what I've gathered

If it’s in addition to 3 regular DPs, it should be a game changer for CONCACAF.

If Borre was really a thing the Argie press would be all over it and according to them he's close to a new deal with River.

And the Colombian press is linking him with Spain

But sometimes that new deal is just a precursor to a move. As an example, Stephen Eustáquio just signed a new deal with his club last week and it’s all but a foredrawn conclusion he’s moving to a much bigger club this summer (with Porto and Benfica already rumoured).

I wouldn’t rule anything out at this stage

That doesnt really apply to Borre as the situation is kind of complex.

Atletico Madrid still own 25% of his rights and River cant extend without buying them out. River have sold 2 players for 6M each partly in order to payoff Atletico Madrid so they can re-sign Borre to a new contract. 2.5-3M is the number in the reports from Argentina.

Given he's in the last 6 months of his contract he can sign for free elsewhere. He's desirable to many teams because he's available on a free transfer. Teams interest in him will evaporate if a new deal is done with River and they have to pay a multi million fee for him.

Valencia appear to have the strongest links at the moment.
