The NYRB feed is horrendous - you can see who they are talking about.
Damn ... really limping to the finish line here.
With Philly up by two, I think it’s time to take off Poz and Ayo. No need risking injury.
Irrelevant now. Union death blow.
Just glad we have two weeks off to recover. The Shield was a long shot anyway.
Pro/Rel will never happen in MLS and I am okay with that. What I want to see is a loosening of the salary cap, no games on international breaks, and the Gold Cup played every 4 years instead of 2. Allowing teams to spend more on players is what will really take MLS to the next level.

With Philly winning the shield is theirs but I really like seeing the urgency. I want them to tie it up.
Let’s get a goal here for the sake of a moral victory. These guys need to feel positive about something heading into playoffs
The best Nelson has looked.
Agreed, would love to see him get a goal
So they just sent Gonzalez up top to be a target man....
Hard lesson to this board about talking like you’ve won something that you haven’t yet earned.
We are clearly a flawed team. But at our best we have a shot at the cup. Two weeks will help us - Poz needs a rest because he is thinking slowly; Jozy, Oso, Piatti need a full recovery.
You can tell Vanney was never serious about winning this game since Mullins didn't see the field.
I still feel good about this team... in a one and done. I would not want to have to play them. No easy route for anyone. Rest up and heal, congratulate Philly and go hard for the cup.

Separately, gotta like Vic Rauter. Never change Vic. .
Going to play one of Montreal, NER or Nashville in the playoffs.
We really don't have a good record on corners this year, very few goals scored. Seems like Gonzalez and Mavinga should be scoring a few of those per season.
Well that's the kind of season it's been. I'm not expecting much in the playoffs, but who knows. I think surviving to the end of the season, with a decent position in the playoffs, is an achievement on its own, given all the issues. I see the the playoffs as an opportunity to test some players for next year, after they get a bit of break now, and then there will be some tough decisions to make in the off-season. Sad that I don't feel too comfortable that Curtis can get the kind of players we need, and spending may be further constrained due to the pandemic influence on finances.
If you are watching Montréal, Piette gets a red for more or less the same challenge that NYRB did on Oso and it wasn’t even a card. The inconsistency must drive these players crazy.
Whoever tweeted shine the shield should wear an impact jersey for a week as a proverbial dunce cap.
Nashville ahead of NE is good if they both win at home in the play in game / much prefer to get Nash over NE in round one if it works out that way.
This board? I think the team might have been a bit big on themselves at times, reading too much of their own press clippings. I never thought anything was guaranteed. There were too many 1-goal wins that could have gone any which way, so I didn't think anything would be a cakewalk.
Pulling the Supporters Shield out from under the feet of teams that were battling in a very tough environment was the problem. Philly are worth recipients. They've been pretty consistent all season. 9-0-0 at home. (Of course that part isn't a fair comparison to TFC, who barely played at home.) But also +24 goal differential. Plenty of comfortable wins. They deserve it.

General thoughts:
- 3 DP’s on the field but only one that’s still having the impact
- Another good performance from Priso. Not as sparkling as last game but still a good outing.
- goal or not I’m still no fan of Endoh / DeLeon up top.
- when subbed (or maybe one day starting?) I’d use Nelson in a structured role as a FW that gets to the endline, cuts in to shoot, is expected to track back, etc... that free role is not going to do him any favours. Make him understand the pro game and contribute in a organized way. Worry about him being the next Ronaldinho later
