Default Regular Season Phase 1 Game 6 - TFC @ MTL Wed Sept 9 8pm - It Always Happens This Way

It always seems the Reds never like to make it easy, it always happens this way. Time for them to take care of business or forever hold their peace. Have at it ...

We will have 75% possession, complete over 800 passes, and lose 1-0. All kidding aside, this is the most important game of the season and will be a true test of the character of the team. Anything less than a victory should be unacceptable.

A must win. Gotta think we see a lot of the vets tomorrow.

I'm usually super excited and pumped because it's game day but really I just don't know how to feel about the team lately. Don't get me wrong we are high in the standings and doing fairly well..but man oh man those last two games. Not sure what to expect from tonight's match-up, I want to say TFC will come out of the gates flying. I think again we will no doubt control possession, it's how we find ways of finishing that worries me. That and our back line, and set pieces maybe they at least talked about it in the dressing room. Either way it should be a good game, both with lots to gain and lose from the win. COYR let's get this one!

Hopefully Mavinga is rested and ready to start. Hopefully Zaveleta doesn't see the field. Hopefully Laryea is ready to play lots of minutes. Hopefully Piatti doesn't need to be rested. Hopefully Altidore gets close to peak form. Hopefully DeLeon and Ciman don't start. Bono sighting?

if TFC decides to 'rest' anybody in their strongest 11 i'll be livid.

    This game has meaning.

This is not only a must win, but by how much matters.

The strongest 11 for as long as possible.

I think we need Laryea out there to win. Maybe somebody like Schaff or Gallardo too but Laryea does the job. We need someone who will run with pace at defenders, penetrate, and pass the ball into the box on the floor. Nobody else manages this regularly.

We look our best when we do that and that's Laryea's bread & butter.

Yep Laryea has that ability to wiggle his way around people and like we saw last year it's almost as if he was trying to walk it into the net and not shoot. I'm so glad that he is shooting more, I prefer him on the left side where he can continue to develop on that side but he has a strong right foot to cut in on. Just listened to footy talks and they said he should be available off the bench. The said Mavinga should be good and that they mostly kept him off because of the turf. Mullins is still a no go, so hopefully Jozy will step up and show something this season. I don't see Ciman, Zavs or bono getting in tonight though. Goals were not all on Westberg, except maybe the one last week that he put out for a corner where he could have just dumped it down field instead (very unlike him)

I was hoping Laryea would start but at least he can go tonight.

Have almost no faith in Altidore doing much. Just hope Pozuelo & Piatti decide to stop playing school yard pick up footie and start playing as serious as they should be.

^Layrea’s play deserves more recognition this year. He’s been really good, top to bottom.

As a general comment, I think this team needs more speed. If you look at our typical starters 1 through 11, Layrea and Mavinga are the only guys you would outright call fast. Otherwise we field a large number of average or outright slow players. And that’s fine in each individual case, lots of skill to make up for that lack of speed. But collectively, as a group, there needs to be more pace.

Pointedly, I look at Pozuelo, Osorio, Delgado, and Bradley as a midfield and think something there has to change, especially now that Bradley isn’t quite as dominant in the centre of the park as he used to be (but is still very good).

    This 100%

If there were fans in the stadium when they did that shit and it didn't work - lemme tell you they would never do that shit or any other fuckery ever again.

I said it in the other thread, but if Beckham had pulled that stunt in similar circumstances Alex Ferguson benches him.

Altidore and Laryea start. My dream midfield of Delgado, Osorio and Pozuelo looks like it is happening again.

Kinda confused what the formation will be. 3-5-2 with Morrow in the back 3? or 4-4-2 with Laryea in the midfield?

    I think it's 4 4 2 with Laryea in the midfield. I like it !

    I see it as a 4-2-3-1.

    Auro-Gonzalez-Mavinga-Morrow
    Osorio - Delgado
    Piatti - Pozuelo - Laryea
    Altidore

Whatever the formation, having two actual wingers should help.

I have been really critical of Jozy lately, but I have a good feeling he is ready for this one.

Why are we so vulnerable to a simple cross? It’s like the corners. Again and again.

Laryea is very important to the club. In a less accomplished way Shaff too.
