    Default Regular Season Phase 1 Game 3 - TFC @ L'impact Friday August 28 8pm

As the Reds look to extend their unbeaten streak to 18 in regular season play, two off the record, they will be looking extend their lead in the standing of this mini Canadian tourney after two straight victories at home over the Vancouver. With a week of rest the Reds will be facing an L'impact team that will be playing on three days rest after opening their phase 1 campaign Tuesday night at home vs. Vancouver. Have at it as the Reds keep an eye on the prize, a spot in the VCup Final with a spot in the CCL on the line.

I would expect we will see a lot more from Montreal than we did Vancouver, as they've also had quite a bit of rest and haven't travelled. Though also, as we tend to see in sports sometimes "too much" rest isn't good as some teams tend to get out of a consistent playing flow.

There's only one Piatti now, and he's ours

Wow I hadn’t even thought of that, great point about Piatti!

In videos from TFC training, I do see players take successful long shots on goal, but rarely in games. So many skuffed shots, or right at the keeper. Why is that? Is it a mentality issue?

There's lots of contributing factors to practice vs games.
For example, in games those are split second decisions. You might only have a couple of seconds from when the opportunity presents itself to making the shot and its one opportunity, no do overs. In practice, it might be part of a drill, where they get multiple cracks at it, or a small field game (where there's more opportunities to do it successfully, they're not going to post highlights of scuffed shots) , less defenders from a drill. In practice there's more breaks, so players aren't as fatigued. In practice, they might shoot it for the sake of shooting since it doesn't matter, whereas in a game they might see the shot as a low percentage and the pass as a better play in the moment, etc.

I think it is coaching. Vanney wants TFC to pass the ball into the net, it is Vanney's approach to football, I prefer direct attacking football, dribbling and shooting the ball at the net, I also think it is confidence, always passing off to another player, Osorio used to do that, but he is trying to strike the ball a bit more, is Jozy going to play as a forward this game, the last 2 games he seemed very tentative about going forward., the line in our house is The Men's game they play for the CALL, the Women's game they play for the BALL.

Come on TFC do the supporters a favour and play for 90 minutes, not 15 minutes and defend for 75 minutes FFS

The Crew lost their first game of the regular season tonight, a 1-0 loss to the then last place NYCFC. With a victory Friday at Montreal the Reds will be able to take first place in the East and extend their lead in the Canadian standings.

I agree with Derko, want to see if Jozy can go longer than 60 min for whatever reason and push that line and get in behind the defence. We have these wingers that Vanney wants to use and cross those balls in and we've got great build up with Auro & Ritchie working it up from the back, now we need that presence up front that we have been missing. Don't want to see him dropping to half just to get a touch on the ball because then a give and go with Poz & piatti means Jozy is not where he needs to be.

I have to wonder how close the league is to stepping in and having a frank conversation with whitecaps ownership about how they run their operations.

    This “rebuild” is farcical.

So with Shoeless Joe's King West, Football Factory and Scallywags all permanently shutdown, has anyone discovered any places with patios showing the TFC games??

    Thanks in advance

As a number of NBA teams boycott their games tonight because of police brutality and anti-black racism, I wonder what (if any) actions TFC/Impact players take this Friday. Jozy and Morrow in particular have been outspoken and great leaders on this topic.

Atl v Inter - called off

Seattle v LAG - Seattle not wanting to play

Dallas vs Colorado - called off

RSL vs LAFC - called off

    Meanwhile

Nashville @ Orlando - security in stands telling supporters groups to wear their masks - gone to half time

    **********

    To be clear

These are player wildcat strikes that ownership tonight is supporting

    This is player driven

Highly doubt they'd bother to travel.

Wednesday was Wednesday. It was a great gesture. Friday is Friday. The strike can't go on for ever. Sadly the American police have been unnecessarily killing people for years, and this will not be the last one.
And it's two Canadian sides, so I would guess the game goes on. We'll see!

I'd imagine there would be some sort of statement/demonstration made by the players. The CPL held a demonstration during yesterday's CPL game which could be a framework for what TFC and the Impact may do. https://news.onesoccer.ca/article/bl...-to-end-racism

The thousands of identical messages to that effect on Twitter are pretty hilarious.

I actually think it's good if they play – by doing so they have a bigger platform to get the message out, before, during, and after the game.

That being said, I also think it would be good for the players to lead actual demonstrations in person as well (and I'm actually thinking NBA players could get the ball rolling once their season is finished). Organize rallies. Use their clout to make meetings with politicians. Lead in person, not just through the media.

    Just my two cents.

They better play..... if the sports world stopped every time there was any perceived injustice done in the world then there would be no Sports on any day of the year.

Now lets get the Politics out and get the game on.

MLS daily e-letter says they're playing.

I'm a bit scared about tonight's game. You never know against Impact, and they will be looking for revenge after the defeat in Orlando. We have to play them twice in Montreal If we can win, we really will be in a good place!

I'd like to see a full strength line up that includes an Altidore going all out for at least the first half.

Whatever the players come up with (playing or not) I’m okay with it. Selfishly, I hope we get to watch some football tonight but there are more important things going on in the world right now if for some reason that doesn’t happen.

Not sure what to make of this Montreal team. Some games they look formidable and others like doormats. I think Lappalainen is one to watch, still only 22

So can someone confirm they are playing for sure?
I'm in Europe now, and I would be really angry to wake up for this in the middle of the night, just to find out that there is no game happening.
