“What the world needs is more geniuses with humility; there are so few of us left.”
Javier Martina: first game scores a brace. Turns out to be junk afterwards
Rohan Ricketts: lots of tricks that looked good at first, then gets found out
Alen Stevanovic: same as Ricketts, except he gave up when Maicon Santos didn't pass him the ball and a chance went begging.
Pablo Vitti: lots of talent, but probably most snake bitten striker in TFC history
“Years have gone by and I’ve finally learned to accept myself for who I am: a beggar for good football.
I go about the world, hand outstretched, and in the stadiums I plead: ‘A pretty move, for the love of God.’
And when good football happens, I give thanks for the miracle and I don’t give a damn which team or country performs it.”

Jermain Defoe
John Bostock.
Armando Cooper.
No no no no no no.... ;-)
Armando Cooper.
“What the world needs is more geniuses with humility; there are so few of us left.”
Cooper is on a very short list of players who played for TFC and started a game at a World Cup.
The easy ones are Bradley, Altidore, Frings and Cesar. Plus Cooper.
But I can think of at least one more that started ...
If we include players who didn't start but played, I can think of at least one other...
If we include players named that didn't play, I can think of at least one more ...
Go.

Mista had a lot of hype and even got almost a standing ovation every time he went to take a free kick near the goal. Man we were desperate back then for someone to give us something to cheer for...
Very impressive. Every one of these is correct.
Brockie played a few minutes against Paraguay at WC 2010. Beitashour was named to Iran's 2014 23 man squad but never played.
This is most amusing, as none of these guys is who I was thinking of when I did the post. So there is at least one more out there in each category, folks...

Very good. Guevara started. Boyens was named but didn’t play. Same for Ciman. I didn’t have Samuel, but you are correct about him. Omar Gonzalez started in WC 2014. Gomez came on as a sub multiple times in WC 2010.
There is by my count still one unnamed guy out there that played for TFC and played in a World Cup game (actually two of them, as a sub both times).

Wait.
There is yet one more guy that started a World Cup game and played for TFC! Hint: he started two games.
Plus one more that played three games...

As much as I didn't like him, VDW was great in the CCL and then went to total trash once the regular season started.
