And talking about Victor, he had arguably more impact on the best TFC team ever (2017) than Piatti had on this year's team. Probably he is the most underrated player in TFC's history vs how much he was paid, and how cheap we got him. He was literally a 4th DP, IMO we would have never had that great season of 2017 without him.
Totally agree. VV was DP quality on TAM salary. In 2017 we had 4 legitimate DP quality players. In 2020 we had 1, which is why we are now out of the playoffs.

The difference is the latter four were all bought down with TAM and GAM to below that threshold, so they didn't count as DPs.

From everything I've seen Bradley and Piatti make similar if not identical money. MLS is bringing in (has already?) in a new rule where the 3rd DP salary is capped at the max TAMable salary ($1.6M) unless they are under 23. Bradley I remember reading re-signed for the max TAM salary, while Piatti as third DP would be limited to that same salary as well.

I think there is something like $4 million in TAM, which you can buy down a TAM salary to about $150,000.
    Based on 2019 salaries:
    Bradley $1,600,000
    Omar Gonzalez $1,193,936
    Osorio $776,250
    Mavinga $663,333

To bring them all to the $150,000 amount would cost $3,633,519, so not enough to buy down Piatti, which is why he stayed as DP. There was also Gallardo who may no longer be TAM, assuming his transfer fee was fully covered last year, and Delgado (not sure how much his extension was for)
Yeah. I got mixed up on the DP and TAM structure. MLS has far too many made up salary cap rules.

i have been thinking about this for a while and truly gutted, wanted to keep watching but knew they were lacking. Worse knowing Philly lost but not sure we would have gotten by a healthy Columbus. as we talk about next year, let’s be realistic unless the General wants to leave (which would be awful), he isn’t going anywhere.

Bradley already moved to a TAM and will stay until he is finished playing, sweater retired (place of honor) and be given an option to move right into coaching. And that would be to the benefit to TFC from a legacy and pure quality of hire (football IQ, leadership etc).

He has earned this... move on to the others.

I believe I read that Zavaleta and Mullins have options for next year. Anyone know if Ciman is out of contract yet?

At the end of last season we exercised options on Auro Jr., Julian Dunn, Richie Laryea, Chris Mavinga, Justin Morrow, Marky Delgado, Liam Fraser, Tsubasa Endoh and Patrick Mullins.

Marky, Mavinga, and Richie have received contract extensions since their options were extended. So at a minimum, I'd suspect the others have contract options we'd need to exercise.

This makes me wonder what will happen with Morrow. He is declining but is still effective.

I'd be happy bringing him back on a lower salary. We also have an option to buy Gallagher. Not sure if that needs to be decided yet however.

I've heard there will be three young DP spots next year from glasscity on twitter.

    Piatti is worth about 700k.

Gallardos salary is not tam level, he's not even worth a minimum deal though.

Reading the quotes from Curtis the team is open to Piatti coming back but at a TAM level. Team will also bring back Morrow at the right price. Team is looking for a new DP. Let's start the Youtube and Transfermarket scouting sessions!

I was gonna say to start looking for teenagers on there because of the U23 DP rule but don't want the government to come claim your computer.

That is no way to talk about the best defensive striker this side of Roberto Firmino.

Not sure what the future for Gallacher, could see them waiting to see what the market holds before committing to permanent move. No not think the fee will be too big.

i dont think Gallacher is the answer, ithink they want a more dynamic every day starter,a cheaper morrow has the backup i would loan out shaff and work him at LB and see what happens down the road.

I’d be okay with bringing back Morrow on a lesser wage. He’d be handy to have while we groom a replacement (don’t think Gallacher is it).

There have been a lot of domestic fullbacks hit the league this year and do well. I don’t see the need to use that intl spot on it.

I think they would consider Gallacher but he wants to play & could probably find a spot in a European league at the second tier - something to guarantee him hours.

Morrow as a free agent will be considered by quite a few teams - Colorado seems to want all our old guys but I could see Bez taking him for Columbus with an offer for a head office position.

I have decided to do some Youtube scouting for a new winger... I looked at Transfermarkt for wingers based in South America that are U23 (and ideally younger). One area we could try to work in is players that do not have an EU passport. My understanding is that it can be harder for non EU players to get a work permit/visa in Europe if they have not been capped by their home country. We can try to serve as a launch pad for some of those players.

    Agustín Urzi: https://www.transfermarkt.com/agusti...spieler/636441 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MusAXz26s7c
Seems to have some good speed and can get down the wing quickly.

    Marquinhos: https://www.transfermarkt.com/marqui...spieler/516722 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZC-voHDHo4
Does not appear to be speedy, but has a strong willingness to take defenders on 1v1 and does it well similar to Richie. Gets in good crosses and takes shots from outside the box. I feel like this is what we were advertised with Piatti but did not get all the time. I like him from 3 minutes of Youtube.

    Talles Mingo: https://www.transfermarkt.com/talles...spieler/677512 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAN9Gvn3WFw
Linked to Liverpool, but talks stalled in the summer transfer window. Does not have an EU passport apparently. Not a speedster either but really great dribbling. Seems taller than most other players (listed at 6'1).

    Exequiel Zeballos: https://www.transfermarkt.com/exequi...spieler/661132 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cniw_VKYfKc
Looks fast and quite young (only 18). Does not have much first team time with Boca. I like him.

    Marrony: https://www.transfermarkt.com/marron...spieler/599879 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-7anNMAt-s
Recently signed a 5 year extension in Brazil. Seems to have good speed, good with his head. Gets into good spots and puts balls into the box.

This concludes my Transfermarkt scouting for the off season.

Yeah. I would rather have a guy who has some professional minutes. 20 would be the ideal age, I think.
