Pressure's on Curtis with this signing. Waited to get him and we need him to be a solid addition. I hope he does well.

From what I can tell if nothing else he has a blistering pace. His distribution looks to be spot on as well. I hope he works out.

Won't know until we see him play a few games. Young, married, presser talks about him wanting to earn respect and come to Toronto. Molinaro saying he was scouted for the last 6 months - they must like his personality. As some are saying though, likely not the only attacking piece and definately not using up all the available TAM.

Seems fast direct more right footed and in highlights looks like a right winger more than left but can play both. Maybe they can add asad later in thé window.

has there been anything more than pure speculation on the Asad rumour?

It is rumor but word is he wants to come back to MLS. Nothing anywhere saying here though. At the moment there's a solid Atlanta Vs. DC banter going on over at Twitter as to which should get him.

Opinion of someone who has actually watched him play.

Hi there! Gallardo's a nimble, creative attacker. Links up well with those around him as well as gets into good positions himself. Venezuela are good at producing such players. On the fringes of the national team squad and, at times, has seemed like the best domestic player.
He also scored the goal that secured Zamora a league title last season.

really hoping the TWA crowd will shut up a bit. It was getting tiresome. The failure in the first window to sign anyone but Pozuello was not surprising given the time and effort spent signing Poz in what really was record time. Hoping the, we are so focused on Janson/Menedez we aren't even looking at anyone else crowd gives it a rest.

TFC have invested bank in a scouting department, it is not just on Curtis or whomever is in the hotseat to actually make the signings that is identifying the talent. That is a good thing, I am glad we have a group whose job it is to simply identify talent. All Curtis needs to do is make good choices from the available options. I really hope this guy works out.

Getting others across the line in the primary window would have taken us getting a bit lucky, we didn't get lucky, now we have a CB and a pacy winger. Perhaps more to come perhaps not. Hoping for another attacker of some shape.

Wow we really kept this under wraps, according to Davidson, Gallardo is part of the TFC training session today already.

He looks quick, but the defending and his fellow attackers misses were terrible! He may struggle to start with against better defenders, but at least we have some players who can put those chances away!

I remember Bradley saying he wasn't going to discuss his contract situation in public and make it a distraction and I'm glad Ali is likeminded in that approach.

Now on another note.. which button do I use to embed a tweet like you did? It's driving me mad! lol Cheers

When you reply hit "go advanced", highlight the link and press the last icon on the bottom row above the text box. It shows as a blank square sometimes.

Or add tweet tags to the link in quick reply [] [/]

A quick search reveals he’s anywhere between the ages of 22-26 depending on the source.

This is the kind of signing we need, but it’s not a league I follow so I’ll defer to others.

Hopefully he's better than the last two #9s - Endoh and van der Wiel

#TFCLive* GM Ali Curtis on new winger Erickson Gallardo: "We were actually looking at a different player and even tough Erickson was on our radar, we were actually thinking about a different player and then we kind of had a moment of clarity where we felt Gallardo was the guy."

Secasports, his agency, revealed contract is for 2.5 years on Twitter.

Also lots of positive tweets/comments coming out of Venezuela about this player. Looks positive.

Wow. I forgot about van der Wiel. Time flies when you try to block out bad acquisitions.

13 minutes of your life that you might not get back but here goes

    ALI SPEAKS

Shaffleberg's play over the last few weeks changed their minds as to the type of player they wanted. Went from a Left sided attacker to a right sided attacker.

Probably Janson but he can play right wing too so maybe they couldn’t get him with TAM cause hes too expensive?

Vanney has been asking for a TAM speedy winger since the fall. Doesn't sound like they we're on the same page at all.

Maybe using Janson on the right is a waste of TAM. Right wing is an easier position to fill. Shaffleberg on the left and Gallardo on the right leaves them with more TAM to spend.

This really reflects well on Shaffleberg, it's pretty rare for a rookie to change plans for acquiring a star player based on his quality of play.

Why do you have to say that Ali. Not a good look.

I hope MLS refs care to protect Shaffelburg & Gallardo. Once Shaffelburg had done well for a bit, the opposition motto seemed to be: hack his ankles and/or tackle him, with barely a call and no cards given. (Not sure how purposeful that was, and how much it was MLS defenders just being to slow to react to Shaff's pace.) Otherwise there's risk of injury, given the size and speed of these two players.
