You would think someone is coming in now with bakero loaned out. Must be an international player too.

Bakero leaving means three are available. Poz will take up one of those so two are free.

I was thinking maybe save one for the summer but I guess VDW is another international roster + TAM spot that will open in the summer. Maybe they are looking at 2 players by April like they said.

Or maybe they see potential in the kid and want to see how he does/develops with actual playing time. We should be trying to do this with all the kids on the bubble.

What brothers me is that management pick up this bum for Hasler. I wouldn't trade a bag of peanuts for him or even want him for free. Spencer was another bum.

Morgan is next to go by next season no skill no cross an MLS 1.0 player who is lower league caliber. He has no composure on the ball I dont understand the love affair with this player. His best year was when Koevermans was at TFC and form what I recall our team was shit only reason he got playing time. I'm probably going to have people hate me for posting this, and but what the heck.

Porto is regarded as the best "Moneyball" team in the world - buy international players cheap and then sell them for huge money (Hulk(in for €5.5* sold for €40), James Rodriguez [in for €7 sold for 45, Falcao [in for €4*, sold for €40-50], etc) - *initially they bought 50% of the players rights for that amount, they paid more later for the rest

Benfica was more of a big spender buying established players for bigger money.

All three have solid academies (Sporting the best by a large margin) as well. I think MLS would like to model after Porto the most (good academy but specialized in the buy-to-sell market)
you left Figo off that sporting list, how DARE YOU!

While wandering around the six training pitches and talking to Miranda, I notice a theme: the ball is continuously zipped out to wingers who are encouraged to drive at isolated full-backs. “Cristiano, Figo, Nani, Quaresma – we’ve always specialised in wingers here,” he says. “Coaches limit touches for central players, who are encouraged to spread the ball wide into wingers, who have unlimited touches to create chances from wide.”

Are we sure it opens up an international spot, how is this loan any different than last year when he was playing for TFC2. We need confirmation of this fact.

He is cheap and domestic. Exactly what you need as a career MLS back up.

    Also Morgan > VDW

    From MLS Roster Rules:

    Transfers and Loans

An MLS player may be transferred or loaned at any time to a non-MLS club (subject to the receiving club's applicable Federation's transfer window), and subject to the consent of the player. Upon loaning a player, clubs will receive roster relief but not Salary Budget relief unless otherwise agreed to in the loan agreement.

We have to wait and see on what it exactly means for the international spot?

Hasler was moved to make cap room for Janson.

Probably a mistake too, but Bakero was just a throw in, part of making the dollars work (and making sure they kept an international spot on Chicago for Raheem! *sniff* )

TFC have always had extra international slots, as they benefit from having two domestic DPs (almost every other DP or high TAM player is an international)

That seems fairly clear to me. He wouldn't count as part of the roster at all, which includes roster make-up requirements. Only one caveat is mentioned, and that caveat is about the salary cap and nothing else. To me that means it's as if he isn't part of the team at all except for his salary.

^He has been used at RB and getting torched, but Chicago's whole backline looks worse than TFC's did last year, so hard to know how much is on him.

Bring him back here as a utility depth winger.

This is sure to bug those who still miss Hasler. It seems to be a move prior to announcing a new signing? A winger?

I still miss Hasler and yes it bugs me.

Morgan was excellent in the CCL last year. You are being unfairly harsh on him.

Where are you getting this confirmation from. Aiden Daniels and Ryan Telfer are also still on the 30 man roster. Confirmation is key here in understanding the actual makeup of the roster moving forward. TFC loaned players out before so nothing is new here.

Morgan is a good servant to the club and a home town kid. There’s always a place for him on the roster for me.

That said, it’s more so towards the lower end. He has a lot of limitations.

The exact text of the rules I linked to says when loaning a player outside mls or mls affiliate "clubs will receive roster relief ". Also the roster on the mls website shows both Daniels and Telfer as not counting against the 30 man roster. https://www.mlssoccer.com/rosters/2019/toronto-fc

Daniels and Telfer are both off the roster due to their loans. We have 5 senior roster slots open now (list hasn't been updated to reflect Bakero's loan yet) and are using 5 international slots.

Cheap, domestic, does his best when called upon, never complains about minutes, and is a genuinely nice guy.

Morgan has been a faithful servant and deserves to retire here... plus he still performs at a pretty reasonable level for a backup despite having serious injury issues.

In other news: Pity Martinez has pulled an Aketxe, not happy in America and not adjusting. Just goes to show how much the Almiron scenario was an exception to the rule and not the norm.

Thank you, that’s good to know. So the next shoe to drop hopefuly will be a resolution to the Gregory van der Whiel saga. Need to sort that one out and open up the international spot.

in the 2 glory years, Bradley praised the bench for keeping the starting players sharp.
busting your ass in practice, knowing your role and pushing the starters is an important role to developing a winning team.
