Whatever, Seba's departure and the subsequent instability killed any shot we had in CCL. Let's just win the Domestic Cup and go gung ho CCL next year with an established squad
Is .75 of a starter striker enough to do well this season?? I really would like to know if Altidore is injured which has happened every year since he has been here, how are we going to do well this season, yes we have a lot of good pieces but i dont feel Vanney has figured out what formation/mentality he wants for his team and we cannot fill the spots because we dont know who we are, I feel we are so off of what we could of done in December to now, that its going to take a while to gel and build chemistry being to late to be competitive this year, and we really havent improved our back line to lessen the goals allowed, the club needs to figure itself out and because it hasnt; its a writeoff of a season

Disgraceful!!
That was Delgado’s best game since 2017. And wonderboy Osorio’s worst.
If they were so desperate in signing a center back instead of useless Ciman they could have signed Canadian David Edgar at least he is Canadian and in my opinion less mistake prone than this bonehead.
Well, at least we showed some fight tonight and looked much better with possession. With a better final touch, we might have made it much more interesting going into the second half.
We obviously still have needs, but just knowing that we'll have Poz and Jozy in the starting lineup soon is giving me hope for the regular season.
TFC are now a semi-pro team, with the emphasis on amateur (led by Bono). Truly pathetic.
Take nothing away from Independiente, but we know the level of Panamanian league. When TFC were horrible they still ravaged Tauro. The team is just indescribably bad getting embarassed by a couple decent players, a few farmers and a 40 year old who have never seen conditions anything like this.
Head of grounds crew should be fired.
Time to forget the whole thing.
Except for the field part. Bill Manning, this cannot keep happening.
"There are some people who might have better technique than me, and some may be fitter than me, but the main thing is tactics. With most players, tactics are missing. You can divide tactics into insight, trust, and daring." - Johan Cruyff
I have to admit one thing, at least I didn't see any chunks of grass come up tonight. However I just don't understand why they had to put so much sand on it.
Sadly the hybrid won't help with the (lack of) thickness of the grass; nor will it deal with the excessive sand. I wonder if they can vacuum up some of the sand? Just guessing, maybe they're hoping that more grass will grow & the pitch will get more lush by the home opener.
They hybrid is supposed to be installed in April; groundskeeper confirmed it in a reply to a tweet yesterday. Hybrid will help make the surface stronger; & prevent chunks from coming up. Beyond that the grass just has to grow thicker. Fingers crossed it gets better within a few weeks.
One thing I did not understand tonight, especially on a slow / sandy surface: TFC players were making many of their passes way too close to the CAI players. Latter didn't do much overall, but they were good at intercepting those lame passes.
Sand on the surface typically prevents the formation of mud and leads to an increase in the tolerance of wear on the grass roots. I'm guessing they figured so much sand would help counteract the roots being ripped out, and considering the conditions are great for regrowth right now. I did seem a little "beachy" though, maybe they thought the more sand the better and just went crazy.
Manning is in charge of the Argos - has a conflict on the pitch.
More importantly, Is it ok to put frost bit feet right into the bath or should the whisky kick in first ?
That’s what I saw too. Oso in the first half trying to make things happen with the wide balls to the left and quick passes inside. Tough to make the delicate ones with a concrete ball but he was doing his job of creativity. Moved to the supporters end for the second half and he looked very good, if a little predictable at times. Marky was ok not great both halves, although played hurt after about 43d minute.

Shall we rename BMO to the Beach Club? The amount of sand on the pitch was woeful.
Cheers to all that out came tonight! Still defrosting....
I’ll give you Mrky never quit. But you are being incredibly hard on Oso. I was west side N end first half, E side south end second, and he played right in front of me the whole game. Played very well and almost brought off some very tricky tap and goes near the penalty area, which was needed against the camel defense. Fair to say he didn’t pull it off but he linked up very well and made the aggressive efforts - exactly what he should have been doing. I wouldn’t even agree with ineffective but that’s as strong as would be a fair criticism, particularly on a pitch and with a ball that both hampered skill.
Everybody played on the same horrible pitch, and for sure, it made dribbling difficult, but watching Osorio doing the same unproductive and predictable moves throughout the game was annoying. He needed to step up and execute, and he didn’t. He seemed to lose the ball whenever he got too close to a defender, and none of his attempts at goal were any good. I got used to that pre 2018, and applauded his surprising turnaround last year. But tonight he looked lost.

Okay all you horticultural experts - what do you think they should have done?
I mean seriously. You're all complaining and some are actually calling for a man to be fired, so if all knew exactly how to grow grass in -10 degree weather please enlighten the rest of us.
I don't.
I do know we had grass in March before. As I said, if this pitch is this bad on March 17th, they are not good enough.
